They are the best supplier in these parts, as they operate a basic good price policy to cash/card customers. They only supply full lengths/sheets, and usually won't cut, but will happily lend a hacksaw if you don't have your own. They also deliver around the Lothian region for around £14, regardless of quantity, within 24 hours. You can order over the phone and pay by card.

As this post was from six years ago, I thought it would be useful to post up that Brown and Glegg are still very much in business, albeit they seem to make themselves extremely hard to find. Not on the internet, that I could find, and you don't even get to them from Bankhead Crossway South (their office is on Bankhead Place, between BCS and Bankhead Terrace).
Anyways - I popped in for the first time, today, and they are very happy to do walk-ins. I got some sample pricing as I'm planning on building a welding table and thought this may be of interest to other people wondering what they would pay at a steel stockholders;
3mm box, 25x25mm, 7.6M long - £17 ex VAT
3mm thick hot-rolled sheet, 2M x 1M - £51 ex VAT
Delivery is £35 to the Edinburgh area.
For me, it's cheaper than themetalstore.co.uk as I can take it away in me pickup truck. The delivery charge may be a bit steep, tho, if all you want is a single large sheet.
