I don't buy much steel but I'm guessing that's over £100 of steel ? If someone can tell me the price so I can have a proper gloat over it I would be gratefull.

Today I managed to get hold of a steel cabinet, 2m x1m x600mm with 9 built in drawers, an underbench tool cabinet with 5 drawers, a hydraulic lifting table 350kg capacity. About half a dozen air drills and die grinders and a dynabrade air file, plus a boat load of other stuff, mainly hand tools. It was all destined for the skip so I asked if I could have a couple of bits and bobs and was handed the stuff by a couple of the managers, just finding room for it all in the garage now.

Where do you find skips like these?

At work, because all the manufacturing and assembly processes have been shipped out to other plants abroad, that's the trouble working for a foreign company who are chasing the cheapest production costs at all costs, (rant over!!). Just got 2 days to go before we are hoofed out of the door, might be able to find some more goodies hidden away in somewhere.

That's probably why I have around 10 copper hammers, one of the managers went and opened all the abandoned lockers and started binning everything. Managed to persuade him to let me have a sort through and snaffle anything that I thought might be useful.

Today, for a donation to charity, I acquired this compressor/dryer, surplus to requirements. I don't know the CFM but it is 10 bar. looks about 200 litre tank.

Now that's interesting to see what looks like a close relation of a supercharger in there.
I happen to have, sitting on the shelf like an engineering ornament, an Eaton M45 'charger removed from a brand new MINI Cooper a decade ago.

Today I got a decent van vault some 6inch G clamps and a 2inch vice for £30 when I was enquiring about the vault we though there was no key but later one of the workers found the key wohoo one happy bunny!

Well, this was in fact yesterday, but I managed to get hold of another 5 drawer tool cabinet, about 30ish diamond files ranging from brand new and untouched to part used flat and half round ,some more copper hammers, 3 bin bags of plastic parts bins of various sizes plus the racks to hang them on, some diamonds for dressing grinding wheels, and a couple of rolls of 20 micron polishing tape. Won't be anymore though as we've been hoofed out the door, bit of a bu££er so I'd better find a new job soon.

Hitachi in their wisdom have 4 different bearings in the PS20SA2--82 mm planer,
the armature has 608vvc2ps21 next to the commutator brushes, 6200vvcmps on the other end.
The cutter block has 6201vvcmps and 629vvc
82 mm TCT disposable blades, Planer has got to be worth a ton. why cant the bearings be 4 the same?

Thanks ford, I will order some new bearings anyway.

The ones in it feel OK, once I got the old dried up grease out. Still, Hitachi tools are last for a lifetime if you look after them, worth a new set of bearings. Built like battleships.

hitachi are on par with makita dewalt or any other good make . i have a couple of there drills

I think the grease in the sealed bearings must have been cooked, it was solid brown gunk. I rebuilt a Honda generator engine like that once, the entire sump was coated with solid toffee that was once oil. Nothing would dissolve it, it all had to be scraped off by hand.

Not got it yet but coming tomorrow is a 1.5m x 1.5m x 30mm plate, used but straight for the grand sum of £85 delivered the 40 miles or so from Barrow in Furness... 1.2m x 2.4m from my steel supplier £580 plus delivery!!

He has nearly a 100 of them so if anyone wants one after I've got mine to see condition etc I'll pass their no. on.
