Stripped and painted..and the damage to back of the slider

Those dents and dings are nowt to worry about Paul. If they've flared the width of the slide or left any sharp burrs or high spots, they're easy enough to sort with a fine file. It's worthwhile removing paint from the machined sections on the body where the slide runs, and also those machined, sliding faces on the half nut too. It'll likely work fine with paint on those little sections, but it'll make it drag a bit, or possibly make the fit tight.

Ive got a steel vice, what looks like the makers logo is actually Acier in massive raised letters, which is french for steel, I tought it was a Aciera for a while until I cleaned it up for paint. No makers names anywhere. At one point it was a quick release, but the whole mechanism is missing, so I just use it as normal. Like most people I would like a bigger one in future at some point. I got it free, but I had to buy the house it was in a outbuilding in to get it.

Picked myself up a new vice from the car boot yesterday

Cost me a tenner, bloke said it had been outside a couple of months and was seized, by the time I'd gone round the rest of the stalls it has already loosened up, so gave it a strip down, wire brush and a bit of oil and its doesn't seem in too bad nick, pretty chuffed for a tenner

This is the vice its replacing (till I find somewhere else for this one), not seen one of these on here yet, also a car boot special, cost me a fiver

That's a nice vice. Seems to have influences from various European styles/manufacturers. That's cute as.

Definitely a good buy on the Samsonia. That Charles Parker too. That's an American vice. They're held in quite high regard over there.
