should have refreshed the page before postingJIS (Japan Industrial Standard) nuts are often smaller spanner sizes that the DIN sizes we're more used to, dunno about M6 off the top of my head but M8 are 12mm instead 13mm and drive me mad... look at fastener, grab a 13mm and it doesn't fit!!
Makes sense, i've got a vague recollection some push bike stuff used to be 9mm hex for m6, IIRC it was more common for some pinch bolts so you didn't need two 10mm spannersYep, I've definitely seen M6 nuts that needed a 9mm spanner... but can't recall where, although probably a (Japanese) motorcycle.
Flanged socket button screws are close, 3.3mm head depth and 13.6mm OD for M6 x 1.0If I could get a bolt with a low profile hex or cap head (max 2mm) then I could potentially be ok to use standard sized nut as would be able to tighten from the head.
Being sad... The camchain sprocket bolts on the older honda c50/70/90 stepthrough engine. I remember this because I had to purchase a 9mm combo + a socket especially for this job when I worked in a bike shop.Yep, I've definitely seen M6 nuts that needed a 9mm spanner... but can't recall where, although probably a (Japanese) motorcycle.
Buy some M4 nuts then tap them out to M6, This will give you 7mm across the flats, just a thought!

Some Yamaha bolts are M6 with a 8mm spanner size.
They mostly have a flange as well.
A large proportion of Jap engine casing bolts are like that.
Why are we talking bolt heads when the op wants nuts ?
