We still get our milk delivered, a couple of years ago when the we were snowed in for a week, the milk man sent his sons up the hill on foot and the whole village got milk, much to everybody's surprise. They had to walk on the tops of the dry stone walls to deliver it.

Can you imagine telling your granny back then that you were going out to buy a bottle of water for twice the price of a pint of milk, she would think you were nuts - and she would be right

Jeez i remember school milk they used to bring the crate in first thing & stand it it front of the big cast iron radiator so by the time it was doled out most of it was going off & tasted foul.
Mum had a washing machine made by English electric (builders of the Lightning Jet fighter) Top loader with a central churning paddle & a mangle great fun watching it doing its stuff. I helped Mum putting stuff through the mangle until one day the thing caught my fingers & dragged me in up to the shoulder. Didnt actually break any bones but i was black & blue for weeks.
Tell this to the young people of today & they wont believe you!

the barber we went to was allways short back and sides blokes used to come in to barbers shop and ask for a packet of fags of the top shelf hmm i never did understand it and saw no fags . now durex springs to mind
