Sorry Kim, I was just quoting the other post, I didn't mean to be offensive. I think your work is superb, you must have so much energy, most of us would have given up by now, hence all the part finished projects.

I was only joking silly I know you were and thanks, I've nearly given up a few times but had to keep on I tend to give up for the day then start again on a new day.

Did some more today, doesn't feel like much but I'm a tiny bit further ahead than I was yesterday.
Began by getting a few bits ready for primer. Firstly the a frame bush housing, as people said it was a pain but not too bad. Started by cutting the little tabs of where the bolt holes are

Then I tried to press it and ten ton with all my weight on the lever thing wouldn't move it so I carefully beat it to death (as my brother would say) with a club hammer :P, once it moved about 1mm it just pressed straight out

I've not got any photos but because it's a surface that needs to be flat I csrefully went over with it using a file to take any high spots out and make sure the hammer didn't damage it. Luckily it didn't so I just cleaned them and masked it all up, used a hammer for the way below as they are counter bored holes.

Getting good with the tape

Now painting it all, what a nightmare. Nearly 2l of mixed paint to do one coat. I ran out of paint just as I finished the chassis so anoying. Took my nearly 2.5h to do it all with one coat I'll have to order some more now and some paint for the body as I'm not using this primer for the body. It's a bit too tough.
Looks good painted. Just have to finish it next week when I get the rest of the paint really delaying things now :'(

It's very tight in the garage too the garage is about 15.5" long and the chassis is just over 14" can't wait till its done!!! I've got to order a new hub as well, the final one I went to sort had about .5mm of movement in it where the bearings spun the races

Today I've got a whole lot of nothing done cant really do too much till I get paint :'( I've ordered paint for chassis stuff. Both primer and top coat and then primer for nato green , also ordered a new mask with 10 filters, I was not well after yesterday's painting. Hopefully that will last the rest of the car.

Really!? I thought it was going slow and very good. I went numb to the touch, worried me a bit.

What mask are you using, the one that makes you look like a Japanese commuter or an SAS soldier? It's not the dust but the fumes, so try either Carbon or Charcoal filters.

It had a filter and was good but it got blocked and I didn't realise till I started painting, I've got a twin filtered 3m one now

You only get one set of lungs, so look after them.

I have never got all this stuff about painting galvy chassis.
A quick coat of linseed oil is all they need. You will sell the truck long before the chassis gives out. All these expensive and poisonous paints..........after getting it hot dipped? It is overkill.

this is the kind of mask I use kim, it gives good protection and is pretty light weight, only down side is It doesn't fit under my welding hood when I am welding galv etc but you cant have everything...

I have never got all this stuff about painting galvy chassis.

It got mentioned before in the thread - a shiney galvy chassis makes the scrotes look at your motor and think it's worth more to them if they pinch it. Painting it is good camouflage

Also the paint gives a little protection to the galv if you do take it off road or even stone chips on the road.

Not the right approach in my way of thinking - do the job right even if it is others in the future that benefit, not yourself directly. Too much stuff these days made with that approach, and is how we've ended up in a 'chuck it out' society.
