My favourite story ever is from the 70's and is about the guy who comes out to his car and finds his car radio has been nicked, it looks like they smashed both the windows in the passenger side door, leaned in and just ripped it out the dash.
So the guy clears up the broken glass and tapes polythene over the door, drives it around for a few months and then thinks that he really ought to sort it out.
He goes to a scrapyard and gets the correct quarter light and door glass and starts taking the door panel trim off the door when he spots a full pane of glass inside the door!
It turns out they didn't smash both windows but just the quarter light so they could wind the passenger window down, guy has driven round for months with a piece of polythene when he had a perfectly good passenger window.

Not in a workshop, but one of my old workmates had a Rover 214i that he absolutely loved, for some reason.

It had a bit of rust on all four arches. Me and my apprentice had just removed an old galvanised tank which had sheets of rust falling off inside, we held it up in the arches and dropped it.

We alerted the guy to the big pile of rust later in the day, he was devastated!

My 2004 Land Rover Disco 2 has a heated front screen.

Sad thing is only the passenger side works. The both side are fused separately, have checked fuses, but not had time to check feeds and earths to each side of the screen.

I had the same problem on my Disco 2. It is a known problem that over time the screen elements fail inside the glass. Well discussed on the d2boys club forum. Only way to fix is replace the screen.

Flippin' heck! Must have been a unique and sought-after model! Probably worth a fortune and you guys ruined it...

I had a 214i in dark blue - my dad bought it brand new.
