What thickness box section should you use for desks, workbenches etc

But I bet you cant beat me on time though 40x40x4 box or 8mm flat bar, 20 mm round I cut a lot of and I buy big bulk packs of discs at handy money. My dust is 50 / 50 cutting and grinding so I cannot remove it all even when I fit a big mechanical saw and demote the chop saw to site only. Remember this is my living I simply cant spend all day cutting or breaking blades. 20% increase in time alone is about £2.50 an hour gone before blade breakages

I hated my abrasive one, so many burrs to deal with whereas as this doesn't leave much at all, blades are expensive but then they don't wear away and can be sharpened.

I love my Rage TCT saw. Just clean and fast, bloody noisy though!! I have a dozen blades for it, when I have 10 that need sharpening I send them off to a place in Bedford that charges a couple of quid a blade to sharpen which includes replacing broken teeth. When I do buy new blades they are about £20 for the genuine blade. I also machined up an adaptor to make the rage take other blades.

Overall a much better solution than the abrasive cutting disk I had before that made a hell of a mess.

Was only talking about the chop saw but I do use evolutions twin blade tct cutter thing in place of an angle grinder cutting disk

there is also a few sparks on that one also I see. No not for me, I will buy a big mechanical or band saw shortly but I like my abrasive wheel Matabo. I should say my abrasive wheel is slightly faster on 80x80 SHS than that but then again depends on the wall thickness (it want ever grab a tooth non the less). My experience in the past involves many grabs and broken teeth also full blades, the running out to get blades sharpened is also a time and travel cost. I can get lots of cuts out of a lot cheaper Abrasive wheel, when they get too small to cut bigger mitres etc I hang them on a nail in the shop and swap them back on when I am cutting bar. Burrs I don't find a big issue as long as you don't force through the end of the cut, hang back a bit and most usually you can knock them off with a gloved up thumb. Yes they are messy but what do you think is happening to the metal removed by a metal blade?
What they (chop saws generally) wont do is cut bigger RSJs, larger RHS on mitre etc. but then again you cant plonk a big mechanical / bandsaw in the truck or cart in around on site.
