Thanks for your comments guys....i learnt this trade from my father many many years ago and ime one of the very few in the country who still use hot pour rolled bitumen and in some cases including drip edges and vertical flashings. In all my working life ive only ever had half a dozen comebacks and its never been connected to MY felt work but other trades messing with it to complete there jobs. I only use pollyester based felts and high tensile which iff laid right can give 30 plus years of life. Heres a few more samples,sorry to look like ime boasting here but ime very passionate about my work Next time you sail into the Isle of man i even roofed the light house there.

i re.roofed a small extension years ago. home made boiler out of half a 45 gallon drum. a nice big gas burner underneath a 2 gallon metal watering can and a ladle all was well till i splashed some red hot tar on me arm and neck big mistake i tried to rub it off quick and smeared it all over and made it worse ,

Yes but you still get ponding. Either the regs or the roofer are rubbish!

A flat roof that hold a little water will last longer than a dry one...its not water that damages bitumen based felts its ultra violet light from the sun,every summer a roof degrades and the winter it has a rest .When i lived in California in my past life we built roofs with 2" of standing water and larva rocks to keep them cool in summer.

LOL...get burnt its best to leave it on to blister as a protective cover.

Thats very nice work.spent a few years roofing but it was mostly torch on, the odd bitumen job.
my back is pretty screwed from carrying capping up ladders.
its a dieing art
