What's this 'Art' worth do you think??

I came across this 'sculpture' while looking for something else.

Before I tell....I would like to know how much you would pay for it?? It is 18 cms (7") high and looks to me like 20 nuts welded together.....oh...if it helps.....it's one of a limited edition of 75.

Personally, b*gger all. That's the type of thing I'd keep just as a a novelty if I found one in a box of bits, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to buy one.

If the welding was done from the inside of the ball (and more neatly) it would be more interesting.

id imagine its worth around 20 bolts and 40 washers & keep a hammer handy in case you are stuck for a nut and bolt one day

nothing to do with the fact it states 20 hex nuts, assembled and welded into a sphere, steel on the web page then

I think this is a very good example of the difference between cost and value. Does the price include VAT? That might just swing it for me.

yeah the value was the cost and is now considerably less as they are now not fit for purpose

Reminds me of a buckminsterfullerene (carbon 60 molecule). I wouldn't mind one, for a thousandth of the price maybe. It would be an interesting thing to make, especially welding it from the inside like RTB said although you would need a #100 cup and 7 inches of stickout or maybe a tungsten bent round 180 degrees ( and still a huge cup).

Edit: or stick weld it.

I once did some work (real work) in some art college in Glasgow. It could have been the Glasgow College of Art. What a strange bunch the students were. In the entrance hall there was a piece of art on show in a glass case. It consisted of a projector throwing a slide of some German writing onto the wall. In front of the projector and casting a shadow on the wall was a statue of a woman and a slice of cheesecake (I swear I'm not kidding). The cheesecake melted over the course of the few days I was there. Maybe if I could have read German it would have all made sense.

That sort of "art" is for self inflated morons who believe just because it cost xxxxx it must be art. Followed by more people with even less sense, brown noiseing.


However I doff my hat off to anyone who can pass stuff like this off as art.
