I sorted it today, got my Arc set up going and welded a spare socket on, second attemp as i didnt fill the socket enough but after i filled the socket with 4 1.6mm rods it did the trick, so new brakes fitted and all good to go and all to a cost of £3 for rods

Thanks guys for the advice, make me think why i didnt think of it, normally on the ball for these tricks.

good to hear you removed that stubborn nut, I can recommend the Irwin Bolt Grip Nut Remover Set, screwfix has the for £25 and Tesco is doing them for £20 if you can find them.
they are only 3/8 drive but will take a fair bit of punishment, I use a cheap chinese 3/8-1/2 adaptor and my snap-on 24" breaker bar the idea being the adaptor will break before anything else but it never has and I've removed dozens of locking wheel nuts with it.
Irwin do 3 separate sets, 2 that 3/8 drive metric and imperial and a larger 1/2 in set that machine mart sell for around £55

oh and stay away from those cheap "wheel nut remover kits" that are black sockets with a left hand thread in them, to start them off you have to tap them on with a hammer and the treads will just break away after a couple of uses.

I did look at then Simon but there was nothing left for them to grip onto, i think they are the best type, infact i was going to buy a set of Teng ones last year when i was faffing with my shogun i had. Mite be with the investment for the future.

wot about the price of the socket

Socket was no cost i have that many that i have been given and so many Imp sockets i just use as an aid to keep fit when carrying the tool box lol
