I may be imagining this, but wasn't there a distributor that you could adjust the dwell with the engine running? Maybe late 80's early 90's
I seem to remember Rover V8's (P5B/P6) having an adjustment on the side of the distributor, although I fitted a lot of Lumenition Electronic Ignition Kits around that time....a long long time ago...

I've seen a transparent distrbutor cap.
got my hands on one and tried it ...seems to show blue pretty much anytime the engine is running , you can wind the mixture in/out so far its almost dying before it starts to change colour
so not much use
Also still have my colourtune, dwell angle meter and (timing light strobe from the Embassy coupons).
Yep lol, and I noticed from a different post that I'm a year older than you, 60 a day was heavy going, more like 30 a day for me. Miss the old Embassy with the coupens, now on roll ups.and your still alive 2 use them after all them fags
