I was manouvering (not so well) out of a parking space and reversed into the car behind. A Mazda 3 (reg HJ10 ***) is this a 2010 or 2001 model?
I have a tow bar which has dented/creased his bumper, and a very small chip of paint on the boot.
Being the honest person I am, I left him a note on his windscreen with my details. We have spoken and he has agreed to get some quotes and we can take it from there whether we involve insurance or I pay by cash which is preferable. Preferable because I have 10 years no claims but withouth claims protection.
I have been told that despite how minor it is, I am legally bound to contact the police to report an accident. Would it only apply if he reported me to the police, or we decided to go the insurance route? We are trying to settle it ammicably outside of insurance, but that will depend on how much the repair quote is.
Has anybody used a service such as 'chipsaway' or similar? I am wondering if he would accept using them for a cheaper repair plus I will slip him a few notes for the inconvenience.
At this point in time, there is no animosity between us, and are friendly towards each other. Hopefully that wont change.
Any experience in this matter will be appreciated,
Cheers.
