Was the workshop that did the job previously recommended/a trustworthy place?
In years gone by, it wasn't unusual for a "clutch replacement" to feature as few bits of hardware as the garage/workshop could get away with - e.g. no replacement release bearing, or the cheapest **** parts that could be had.
Considering the heavyweight grief that LR gearbox removal entails, it's worth buying quality parts and replacing the lot.
way i usually do them is drop t-box first then main box lot easier if on own.
have also built a t-box jack adapter.
works great.
do same on discos.
makes it easier to check splines on shafts as if input gear on t-box isnt cross drilled type it wrecks output shaft on g-box.
trust me not fun when it goes at 60 whilst overtaking.
I've got a spare disco t box that I was going to fit in 110 but I've got rid of that if anyone is interested
Why cant you remove the seat box ?
I would take the seatbox off then remove the transfer box from the gear box , two people can slide the transfer box off, then the gearbox.
i am doing it on my own without any help, other than from the hoist.
Just use the hoist to help you split the two boxes then remove the gear box, that is when when you get a hoist that works![]()
