Why does it matter how close they are if they are on different phases?

if single phase apliances are plugged in near each other on diffent phases and developed a fault the users could face 415volts across the apliances . so therefore a good seperation is recomended

longer than arms reach of each other and if there in the same room warning notices of 415volt existing between adjacent sockets should be marked up

Meanwhile back to lighting

I fitted strips to my workshop. And really wish I hadn't after I'd read about them losing over 40% of the light in a year. I always wondered why they changed them out even before they had failed.

So now 18months down the line, I have 4 6'twins (I wish) only producing half the light they were. And even after paying a bit more for the fittings some are still refusing to light up straight away, and keep dropping out.

So I too would be interested in the other options

The only new option is led these days and massive advances have been made. I rep was in with led tile lights 600x600 And the light was pure white a lot like the back light off a LCD tv but expensive

there verry good in suspeded ceilings or u can get the surface battens but there only any good in offices n not much use in workshops and at £130.00 a pop and u will need a lot of them the other led option is the 30w floodlights but u would need a quite high roof to get any spread. there mainly used on car parks. ive just fitted 30 round a school and half a dozen in a church. ceiling height was 30 foot

not a lot of choice im afraid just re tube them every 18 month if there on regular and use cool white tubes and keep them clean

I'm looking at taking out my utterly useless low bay lights and fitting some extra fluoros. Are T5s the best bet? Do they have a high startup current? I'm trying to figure out how many I can run from a single switch (which currently has 2 x 400W low bays running from it, except they never work...)???

Use a 20amp switch then is down to the fuse! 1.457x rated power is the design current for Fluorescent light fittings. T8 fittings are the current best be advised that 6ft fittings are being fazed out as part of the eu ban the bulb things

5 foot 80 watt is the max size for t5 bulbs they use high frequency electronic ballasts. the start up current is verry low

Cr*p, are they? We'll all be working by Braille if it goes on like this. I thought the point of wind farms was to create extra power? Why can't we use it then...
