I work in a high volume production environment and the max we weld is 2mm so 250A eurotorches are fine.

Yeah, tbh 250amps would be plenty for a lot of the guys here too. The No4 takes dogs abuse though (which they get in large amounts)

Never seen one of those before Hitch, have you got a makers name for it?, I will look up the details and see if we can buy a couple to trial. Don't think it will cause any access problems in our application.

Had a "wannabe" welder in for a trial last week, they are given a machine with controls set to zero, he pulled the trigger hopefully then said the controls were set for him at college where he got his certs!.
He was a asked a few questions,
Q: what are the coarse/fine voltage controls for? A: always set to 2 coarse & 4 fine.
Q: what does the wire speed control do? A: something to do with the wire.
Q: what gas flow should be used? A: dunno what you're on about.
He didn't get a job!

I always liked to give a welder a chance I never zero'd the set .
Iv'e seen prospective welders with codes and cert's as long as their arm kroma cap neck scarf one leg in one out etc and been rubbish no all's.
Yet the one who struggled a bit due to inexperience turned out to be a first class welder / worker
We all had to start somewhere.

Carrying out routine servicing on some of the welders today, I always check the flow at the shroud with a peashooter. One of them showed over 20 lpm so I checked the flow regulator and it was fully open, the ball bearing was jammed at the top so flowing in excess of 40 lpm!. I'm surprised it wasn't blowing the workpiece off the bench

When the wire stops feeding they just keep pulling the trigger hopefully or in this case hold it until smoke comes out of the feeder......
Needed a new housing, inlet & outlet guides and wire conduit, took a few hours to repair
