Modded sip gassless and gas

Well my thought were it wouldn't have anything to do with the feed mod, as it worked on 0.8mm gassless same steel different wire and polarity.

When you look at what has been done it would steady the output to the torch as the transformer is supplying one side of the mig instead of torch and wire feed.

But to answer your question I didn't offer that information.

I did tell him about the brace and the steel liner though, :-) must've slipped my mind re the transformer.

He didn't make it sound a fault just the limit I can go on 0.6mm wire.
I'm happy with that as the cars bodywork is 1.2mm and I've loads to do.
So my settings will be power 1-2 and work out the speed by the sound it makes.

I prefer the mig now and would take a lot for me to get rid unless it goes pop, even then I'll try and fix it up.

Whats better pushing or dragging.
I've been told pushing for gassless and dragging for gas.
Is this right guys

What beer is that?
You have them around the wrong way.
Generally you drag with gasless wire - just like arc welding - and push with gas.

"If there's slag, you drag." I think someone said on here recently. Helps you remember till it gets ingrained....

Pushing gasless wire tends to mess up the weld pool and you can get more slag inclusions. Also gasless arc is hotter, so by pulling or dragging you are taking a little of the heat out of it.

Tried longer arcs in a pulling "e" motion for greater penetration on the 2mm plate im using 0.6mm wire.
Even did a lap joint, the fillets are too high.

It started to rain, other wise I was going to start on the 1mm.

"Sean" to adjust the pot inside is it anticlockwise to reduce the speed, or try it and see.

I will try zig zag next time and ill get some 0.8mm wire for 2mm as 2mm is the thinnest in out scrap bin, and ill use the work scrap for practice and sent it back slightly heavier than I got it.

Ahh, did wonder as the welds look very tall. You need to up the power then. Why are you pulling? You should be pushing.

Figure "e" shapes so a bit of both, yeap but need 0.8mm to use the upper scale or I get spray transfer.
Im using the 2mm before I attack ,my 1mm.

Upper scale I get a flat humm weld sound and the I have to build up the wet pool its hard to explain.
Its not like the lower scale crackle im getting used to.
But I can can see that my mig isn't penetrating right through in most places and that's at full power but 0.6mm and 2mm plate.
I need to practice a hell of a lot more and laydown better beads before I start on the project.

I've decided to continue with the 0.6mm wire and I hope I will never have to use flux coated wire again.
In the right place it's ok, but it is messy.
I actually prefer the spray transfer as it has a nice humm and can get great wet pools of molten metal.

I've been test fixing the heater channel on one side, a pressed on nut came loose, I had no other option but to cut it off weld up a captive nut on some 2mm plate and plug weld it in. It melted the nut in max mode and held it firm on the heater channel.

The help you guys give to newbies is fantastic.

This is the car now 16 years after I imported her from California.

The blue splotches are hammerite I bought. Massive can for £22.00 a few years ago.
When I find another rust patch I take the paint back to bare metal and treat it then paint it with the bloody stuff.

Now the rockers have gone.
I spent years collecting parts for her, importing the heater channels from Germany to keep it as original as possible.
