Modded sip gassless and gas

Yeap Im thinking am I mad but I love this car. I dont want to send it to a garage to get it bodged. I couldnt weld prior to comming here, Im getting there.
I read lots talk to everyone at work, watch youtube vids on it.

But so far Ive spent about 1.5K on panels and that aint many panels either.

Not a massive load:-

"Average Air Consumption 6cfm" - (According to the makers)

But that word "average" doesn't help too much.

I always think it's nice to know the max it'll use, like the way welders give the max current draw.

Ordered me a air belt finger sander, for those hard to reach areas.

Migged up the heater channel at the front.
Shirt bursts, and vertical lil seams.

Cleaned up

Upgraded the mig further.
Added the motor cap and uprated the earth clamp

NO spray transfer anymore just smooth migg even full power, but a lil run on.

seam on seam and im getting better, apart from the work bench catching fire,

your just looking for excuses to use the welder now

Ive fitted a cap to the motor recently - as i found one lying about (havn't had a chance to use it on steel as id been having a go on ally which is almost impossible with a small diy mig) if it keeps running on ill remove it again.

your still getting a fair bit of spatter id be wanting a lot less than that.

and you can now phone up Technical head at SIP and tell him its not spray transfer at that sort of Amperage just the crap earth clamp

Re excuse yeah, but the car needs it, that's what I keep saying, even though it will not be seen, it has to be right.

Re: splatter it was windy would've that be a cause,?

And finally damn yeah re spray transfer, it looked like it from the videos as well.
Can say which mod helped either the motor cap or clamp, I'd guess as well it's the clamp. I was thinking I shouldve bought a mega expensive one instead of a £4.00 200amp one from the bay.

It's either windy or raining here and as I don't have a garage to work from I'm limited to when I can weld.
I've tried shielding the weld with my other hand but when it blows it's not good.
Tool station are doing air finger sander belts (10x330) @ 50p per pkt of 5 as a clearance offer great for getting where the angle grinder can't.

More done today,Finished the a post dogleg.
I did a little welding on the flap section to the right with the gas off. :-(
Then it rained so didn't ave time to grind away and reweld with gas.
Will have to do it tomorrow, I've perfected my welding under a tarpaulin for wind shade.

Found yet more bloody rust and had to cut out the front heater dogleg.
More fab work and I'll have to order a new front heater, cheapest from Germany
£150.00 top and bottom.

This is where I was thinking is this too much for me.

But then I cant really weld yet, and it's only metal so plod on and attacks bit at a time.

I've need advised by my m8 to learn up vertical welding.
Don't know how this is going to help me but I can pour into the weld pool.
