Heres a job i did for a customer where i removed a flat bed and fitted a 26ft box to an 18t chassis/cab (The flat was fitted to another chassis/cab that i extended the chassis on http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=32474).
The box had a column tail lift but the customer wanted a tuck away tail lift fitting instead.
The pictures show me cutting the old one off, profiling the chassis and body longitudinals, and fitting the new tuck away tail lift. Took quite a bit of working out as to where the lift should be fixed and was a case of trial and error (Tacking in place, connecting the pump to slave batteries and opening it up to see where it sat with the thresh hold of the body). After three attemps the lift sat flush with the body floor and i was able to weld and bolt the mounting plates to the chassis.
