is this true if it is, it would be a shame, home welders would have to rely on crap from china. although not all products from china ar badly made, i bought a torch (fenix L2D) had it years it is really amazing.

That is from HTP America in the US. The US division of Clarke went bankrupt several years ago.

BTW, I have dealt with HTP, they are good to deal with, an honest seller.

Clarke are close to the bottom when it comes to tool quality, I always try to avoid buying Clarke stuff

Clarke welders are/were the benchmark budget welders.
I had one and it lasted 6 years of horrible abuse, they did seem to offer poeple new to the game a good starting point. I hope they have not gone down the pan and are still able to offer this reliability. I would be wary of buying any of their other tools though. then again my Clarke biscuit joiner has what appearsto be an identical business end to the dewalt one I borrowed .
Maybe close to the bottom, but a few rungs up. Certainly price wise. A way up from it reputationwise.

im not sure about close to the bottom, take a look at this strong looking vice, i think a may be a safety feature to stop your hand being crushed.

Yeah, pants as in that's a £17 vice.
They also sell these at £250

They're just covering all budgets. (That red vice is pretty dire though )

That's what "Enginner's" or "Malleable" Vices are for
