I'm not sure if I feel better or not
I do get the feeling folks aren't spending, they are definitely hanging on to fundsI took a car load of my old beekeeping gear to the auction today. It's a local association thing, usually with plenty of new beekeepers looking for equipment, so my hopes were high for a reasnable rate of return.
How wrong was I!
Some of the more valuable kit (Electric honey extractor) which I was expecting to go for £150+ sold for just £55. Uncapping tray and stand - probably £100 'normally' went for £28.
I should have put a reserve on, but I didn't want to bring them back, so....
Lower value stuff where I was just keen to realise the space, sold for cheap money, but at least it's gone.

In the modern world the cinema, eating out and having a good time are seen as essentials, as are 60" TV's, Range Rover sports, and the latest I phone. So must have money you haven't got spent on them. Its the usual...some are fine while some are either feeling the pinch or very worried about the future so holding back.
I've been selling some of my old silver coins recently on eBay...not really much interest despite being quite keenly priced below spot!

Thats not an unreasonable view to be honest, my cheap alpacas are not selling either! In the modern world the cinema, eating out and having a good time are seen as essentials, as are 60" TV's, Range Rover sports, and the latest I phone. So must have money you haven't got spent on them.
Bee keeping equipment, Silver coins and fresh food on the other hand are niche requirements that only appeal to the older generation who are likely to be a bit more careful with their hard earned.
That's my sweeping generalisations made for the day.![]()

You can eat them, they do in Peru, and theres one place in Devon do meat boxes if you are interested. Oddly the trend in Peru is folk moving from farming alpacas to Llamas as you get more money for the meat per kilo, more meat per animal for the same work, as the fleece though superb isnt as easy or cheap as buying Polartec fleece from the far east.I think live stock you can't eat seems to be low on folks priorities at the moment
Some do yes, theyll make a noise like a squeaky dog toy if there is a threat, if it keeps coming they rear up and kill it with their feet. Full males are best. Though females would especially to protect young cria.Do Alpacas protect sheep from foxes the same as Llamas do?
