EXCELLENT choice of welder there. Well done that man! Also bought this old trolley. After a bit of straightening and a wipe down it's proving very handy. View attachment 539053
Yeah. Up to 25mm thick stainless steel/mild steel. It will do ally, copper and a few other more exotic metals. 4m x 2m bed, it has an automated change over bed so will cut unattended. So is that a huge laser cutter? What do you cut on a machine that size?

Yeah it’s sweet. Won’t get used much but it’s nice to know it’s there if needed.Looks a tidy machine.
Looks new,how old?Always wanted one of these since using the same model on my apprenticeship. Well managed to buy a nice reconditioned one with a couple of upgrades.

Modify a different pair of longish dividers to make an odd leg with a toe & heel , those edge runners like the above ain't so hot on thin materials. There's a flea market in Todmorden every Thursday. There's always a few tools, one stall in particular is always worth a browse.
I was looking for some knackered dividers that I could steal the spring off to repair some other dividers. I ended up with a couple more items.
The donor calipers are on the right, they looked worse when I bought them with the screw bent. I've already taken the spring off of them.
The lot was 7 quid. I bought a second set of calipers

And here's the pair of calipers repaired with the donor pair.

The problem now is that I can see that the odd leg calipers may come in handy so I'll probably keep an eye out for another donor pair![]()
I got caught out because of that . why Lidl didn't sell the batteries and charger for my Ferrex chainsaw is annoyingBe aware (you may have been) that these "new" type 4Ahr ones are ONLY 20v not the 20/40 as per older type.
I did not realise this till I bought one and as I use them on the 40v grinders they don't work on them. It will still come in usefull for the other 20v stuff I have, drills and driver. Did note whilst purchasing this one that the shop also still had the old style 20/40v (£24) and some of the smaller (2Ahr?)(£15) 20v ones in a different section of the shop ! Which I thought odd at the time.
You know Ferrex tools are Aldi - not Lidl?I got caught out because of that . why Lidl didn't sell the batteries and charger for my Ferrex chainsaw is annoying
I had to go to eBay or Amazon for them . The battery & charger I purchased from Amazon was great for the Ferrex chainsaw. Last week & saw the range of new batteries in Lidl , purchased two 40 volts and found them useless. nor did they charge on the original charger .. careful examination of the contact side revelled the pins are not the same . A phone call to the ferrex helpline saw me saddled with a heavily accented Grman speaker who told me of the correct battery 20 /40 volt batteries and where to get them .
So I returned the unsuitable batteries to Lidl and got my money back .
I had to order the correct batteries from eBay or Amazon .. did just that from eBay .
Three days later ... one new battery sent in a sealed box & one in an opened box containing a dead and well dusty gritty battery .
" Chuts 8426 " The seller appears to be no longer showing on eBay, so I followed the eBay process to try to contact them.
It seemed suspicious not finding them on eBay , so I opened a complaints case as I’m protected by buyer protection rules,. The AI handling system is not great but it eventually produced a good result for me , if " Chuts 8426 " does not sort things satisfactorily for me or not contact me by May 6 , I’ll get a full refund from eBay who will also send me a paid returns label for both batteries .
A new pair of 20/40 volt LI_ION Activ Energy batteries will be purchased elsewhere , but they are showing up as almost twice the price of the original eBay purchase price .
