I've always used big old cardboard boxes flattened out to lie under motors, plus when they get damp or filthy you can bin them..those look quite comfy though

I like bike boxes from the local bike shop, flattened out they are nice & big, as you say chuck oit when dirty

Yeah I've used cardboard, but not every day you get a big box, and boxes dont lock together, nor comfy to move about on.
Card can always go on top to keep it clean but I've used small foam kneeling mats, its the same stuff, durable and stays clean enough.

Years back we changed sofa and I kept the three seat cushions for working on the bike. Comfy but far too small.

I find cardboard easy to slide along to get under the car.

I use an old boot liner for working under the car. Any oil doesn’t go through it and the lip prevents nuts and bolts rolling away out of reach.

Got a 50 mm thick supportive hard foam big dogs bed about 1500mmx 1m covered in a bright hard wearing water resistant outer from the local B&M store for a £10 a year or so ago . For me it is magic as I struggle to get down on my knees , I've used it under the caravan a few times but of late outside on blinded rubble whilst kneeling on some old heavy foam settee cushions , setting up concreting form work .

Today I received a single 1.5 to 10mm chuck with key & four adaptors .....3/8 UNF x 24tpi . Well worth waiting for it to come from Ali Express as it is less than half price of those being sold by Screwfix . Tomorrow I may receive the remainder of the order via Evri and get two 1.5mm to 12 mm chucks in a 5/8 UNF x 20tpi size with chuck keys & more adaptors popped in the mail box.


I'm having trouble doing up the hand tightened chucks due to trigger fingers in both hands the smaller chuck was fitted today . My two early years hand chuck Makita battery drills are stripped waiting for the new chucks. Once they are here I'll turn up some 2 inch long x 10mm dia aluminium extension for the chuck keys and epoxy them in place like I have done to my drill press chuck key extensions .
