Spoke to a supplier yesterday. Annoyingly I didn't book up last week.
They weren't pricing deliveries as the market was so volatile. Would deliver, if I wanted/needed it but price would be whatever it was. His implication was that companies that were providing prices were erring massively on the side of caution and adding ~5ppl on top of the already significant rises, to minimise their risk of selling at xxppl only for the fuel they pick up from the port to supply it the next day be xx+5ppl.
Suggestion was that the market usually relaxes back a bit, after initial panics and to therefore hold off buying if possible.
Heating oil can wait until summer here. But not Derv or Gasoil.

Indeed. I’ve read that people have been having orders cancelled by the suppliers. Probably so they can bang up the price accordingly.
I’m glad I invested in a larger tank when I replaced my old one. I think I’ll have a new half-full back to brim policy - when the prices settle. I think around 1000 litres should last until early summer or more as the temperature rises. If needs be, the immersion can be deployed.
Wonder what my recent energy fix will do. Hopefully stay fixed!

Its the same here, i was thinking about getting a top up few weeks back, but im also thinking about moving the tank and fitting a second, (would give min 2 years supply) so left it half full.
then though cant be bothered this year so tired to order on Tuesday morning, was number 24 in the queue on phone, so tried online system. Goff petroleum would give a quote, or a date. and been number of complaints of orders being cancelled and re quoted.
and if you pressed the "Order Now" button, you get asked to phon!! ironic really as i have had 4 emails from them over the previous weeks asking if i need a top up.
When it went silly years ago, the Caravan Using Nomadic TravellerS were liberating fuel all over the place around here.
Farms and loads of backup generators got hit & drained, domestic places too.
(As always targets selected on ease of theft and escape without detection)

Would seemingly count as a 'bargain' price.
Boilerjuice quoted £2126.25 for 1500 litres just now, so I make that £1.41 a litre which has to be worthy of this month's 'supplier p*ss take prize' at well over a pound a litre it will be substantially cheaper to heat the house with fan heaters etc. if/when I run out of oil.
