I recall watching a program, something like 24hours in police custody or the likes and they’d been printing some firearms. My memory is a bit foggy but I think they seized the printer and tried to forensically interrogate it to see if it had actually printed the files they found on the computer. They then printed the files and an expert tested the printed weapon to see if it could be used in anger. Can’t remember the outcome other than them stating it was very dangerous being that it could self destruct with a live round being fired from it, again can’t remember what happened to the suspect.

Anybody with a lathe and a mill could quite easily if dangerously make a working firearm , this is for display purposes only but I get your point. I often go to Comicon's with my son and am suprised at the number of people walking around in costume with real looking prop weapons

I seem to recall reading that someone made a 3D gun print that allowed a barrel & chamber to be fitted as well as a steel firing pin for a repeating pistol . I understand that sending files of such things over the internet can quite easily be tracked and investigated.

It would be really easy to design such a thing but stupid to share such files as there are people regularly checking for such things and hopefully would get more than just a caution for doing such a thing

There seems to be a bill a senator is trying to get made.law in the USA to make 3D printer report you for trying to print firearms, I don't see it going anywhere but it's got a few chatting about it on YouTube

When I was a kid we all ran around the streets with toy guns and rifles etc never once had someone complain , how times have changed . Maybe for the better not one of us became criminals or it affected us in any way
