Simple solution dont go into the cities and drive what you want! Without being political, the need to pay is stagnating city shopping…lets not support the high street and encourage folk to shop out of town or online!Herself points out that the Discovery of Rust (200TDi) is also lez zone exempt,
which the much more modern Octavia isn't ...![]()
We vote with our money and don't go into any of the places that want to fund raise with lez zones.Simple solution dont go into the cities and drive what you want! Yes it did.did it pass? my brother 01 rav 4 crept through..happy days.
Yes your right, my last beemer was the 535D with lci trim and i gave that a full gearbox service which included new sump and filter kit, gear changes after was like night and day. I am about to hit the button on a 2007 X5 with the same motor and this will be getting the same treatment. If that was a ZF, the service interval is 60K miles, the problem is most people don’t and instead go on the cars manufacturers advice that it doesn’t need serviced.
Personally I service them when I buy a car or 60K since last done.
Same as my sh#t box Sorento.£430 and not ULEZ compliant! The newer version IS £230 and more than 10 mpg better fuel economy, though outwith my budget.
Fluids and filters all bought already.Pretty much how I've approached used vehicles - get it looking 'right', replace all the fluids, get everything up to a good baseline then keeping it there is reasonably trivial.
I do like that era of XC90's.
100% - the comfiest seats of any car I have ever owned. The one thing I remember most about Volvo's is the front seats are the comfiest ever - Volvo claim they're anatomically correct for spine support, I've no reason to disagree.
I remember on a long trip my mate saying the xc70 seats were more comfortable than his living room sofa.100% - the comfiest seats of any car I have ever owned.
My old 240GLT front seats were living room arm chairs. Had a few more volvos since then but that's genuinely the one I wish I still had!I remember on a long trip my mate saying the xc70 seats were more comfortable than his living room sofa.
The AWD system is complex...lots of different fluids for lots of different bits. Also the power steering on mine has a specific fluid too.
Tamperproof screws in Lochgilphead, I live in Ayrshire and don’t even lock my doors I’d have thought the only thieving up your way would be squirrels stealing from the bird feeder.I suspect there are a few folk on here like me who have a type of OCD when it comes to imperfections, faults and maintenance on my vehicles...
I had a few parcels delivered today for my new XC90: touch up paint, headlamp restoration kit, new blue Volvo grill badge, new number plates, tamperproof torx keys and a laptop package and mongoose cable from SVDNS.

New car in need of some minor improvements: front number plate rust stained from locating screw, rear number plate delamination, Volvo grill badge tarnished, a few chips, clouded headlamps and roof bars needing removed for a good clean as green on underside, hence the tamperproof torx key.

Headlamp restored and scratch touched up, will cut back and lacquer when weather is better.

this is a before of the headlamp, could not believe how easy they are to remove: 2 sprung clips that pull out and one plug, so under a minute to remove a headlamp!

Plus Diagnostic package of laptop, software and Mongoose cable with VIDA/Vdash arrived this afternoon (Proper Volvo diagnostic/programming tool, hopefully I will get to try it tomorrow.
This is the start, next I have picked up a jack, tools and spare wheel winch to fit, just got to get a spare wheel, rubber mats and boot liner ordered too. I will also be wire brushing surface rust on the underside, treating with Vactan then spray with Noxudol, it is pretty good, so I want to keep it that way with the salt we get on the roads.
Aye plenty folk round here leave their cars unlocked too,. The roof bars came with tamper proof screws, cannot imagine many get stolen!Tamperproof screws in Lochgilphead, I live in Ayrshire and don’t even lock my doors I’d have thought the only thieving up your way would be squirrels stealing from the bird feeder.
Nice car, hope it’s reliable for you.
Id agree on the xc70, I bought one new in 2011, a quality machine, comfortable, towed well, and superb luggage carrier. After its was written off due to flooding, I was disappointed they had stopped doing them. Only thing that let it down was the 2.7 ton towing.I remember on a long trip my mate saying the xc70 seats were more comfortable than his living room sofa.

there was some light drizzle, though it was 2 degrees out with wind gusting to 45 mph, so felt much colder.I'm just surprised it's not raining, that's all it's doing here!
How does the Bonnie respond to the diagnostic tune up?
Mine was a lovely car, rotted out on me eventually after 275k. Still went from oil change to oil change without topping up. I had 2 Volvo 240 estates before, they were complete slugs though, the GLT was a flying machine in comparison. My old 240GLT front seats were living room arm chairs. Had a few more volvos since then but that's genuinely the one I wish I still had!
