Perhaps try a different print orientation, yes it will need more support but it might last longer.

I'd print 1.5 mm holes in the thread end and insert using super glue some 1.5mm brass or stainless rods % 5 or six ?) to strengthen the threaded part neck .

Made this for the diesel heater fuel tank today, after three years of struggling with the supplied cap which only had one aim in life, which was to screw on cross-threaded. Strangely the first one I drew up in Fusion refused to print the 60x3mm screw threads - just a plain minor diameter instead. No idea why, unless it was something to do with exporting as a step file. So that explains why there are two in the photo - the one at the back is the dud.

Did you forget to check the 'modelled' option when creating the thread, perhaps?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I’ve not had to model a thread for a long time, so more than a bit rusty!

I managed to clear an extra sort-of-drawer (more a shelf on heavy duty full extension drawer runners) and that meant I could do a bit of a rearrangement of the lathe accessories (which have accumulated a little since the original layouts thanks to some fortuitous ebay finds).

I've now got three sets of organised storage plus a more general dumping ground. Firstly, chucks, tool posts and some accessories:

Unlike the previous version, the jaws can be left on the chuck if I'm being lazy and the soft buttons can be left on the Cole jaws (or they have a separate storage spot if required). There's also a new pocket for the thread protector to live when it's not on the lathe.

The upper drawer mostly has jaws and the tin of jaw screws:

The Morse Taper tooling rack has also grown. There aren't many new additions (just a centre finder, some calipers and the new tool-post drilling thingy); the main thing is the addition of text labelling everything:

That is the air filter refitted, the white abs part, if you wondered where it goes. The original design does stick out a little, if I ever need to reprint it I will remove the hex section as its somewhat redundant.

Would it be sensible to have the hole in the black part of the air filter housing facing downwards to stop things falling in it such as swarf grinding dust with metal particles in it and other forms of dust ?
