I think separating cargo and people is probably the way to go...that way the people vehicles can be made very safe with zero compromises.

I was doing some work in texas (10+years age)....visited the Apollo museum where they had a Saturn V in a warehouse....the size of the thing is staggering!

That sat out in the open for years, as did the one at Kennedy, but they began to rot and they finally took them in doors. In Huntsville, they have a real one on its side, and concrete replica standing vertically.

A tunnel the diameter of a Saturn 5 could take 3 double decker buses side by side.

My prediction for the future of the space program is that Homo Sapiens will eventually be conquered by Octopoda, and octopuses will take over the space program and launch their own missions. Of course, ferrets will be in league with the octopuses from the beginning of the rebellion. Octopuses are highly adaptable and will re-engineer their own DNA to allow space travel without protective gear (a handy coincidence that made AI imaging a little easier).

Octopuses will quickly develop the necessary skills to design, build, and repair their equipment, and might even start their own Mig Welding Forum.

Space travel will become so commonplace that billionaire octopuses will routinely travel as tourists to the moon and beyond. Here's a rich tourist taking a selfie (I know...for a selfie the phone is backwards...maybe I'll fix that later).

This is all subjective anyway. It was all done in a film studio and with CGI and now AI. Surely no one still believes the conspiracy theory that anyone has ever been there ?

They tried to get there, but on leaving the atmosphere, found it is an optical illusion, which is the REAL reason that it always shows the same face. Otherwise, they would have been there lots of times by now, wouldn't they ? Also, as it would not be anyone's sovereign territory, Mr Trump would have claimed it for all the rare earth minerals by now. Would save all that hassle over Venezuela and Greenland, this alone surely proves it does not exist.
