Normally the suspension unit mounting plates are welded to a box section (it's dimensions depends on trailer capacity/loadings and the length depends on required wheel clearance) to form an axle beam, the axle beam assembly, is then welded to the trailer frame. All my parts have arrived to start building my trailer. My concerned is the 8 hole steel plate will extend out from the chassis by 25mm allowing for tyre clearance. Is that what should I expect.
Thats why this was introduced.Always makes me nervous when people decide to build trailers with little to no knowledge of how trailers should be built...I'm all for learning a new skill and building new things, but road going things aren't the starting point for me...

Generally difficult to enforce until a trailer comes loose and spears an oncoming car though...Thats why this was introduced.

Apply for Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA): trailers
Apply for Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) if you’re making or importing a single trailer, or a very small number of trailers.www.gov.uk
Just be careful not to overheat the box section, you don’t want to melt the rubber!Put them on when you get suspension units??
Weld the plate with 8 holes in first?? Assuming it’s the fixing plate for the suspension?Just be careful not to overheat the box section, you don’t want to melt the rubber!
