Next batch, need to play with the support settings as it's difficult to break loose, but parts came out decent enough.

Pen holder and radio clip for the crane, and the remake of the bandsaw knob that came out much better although I think the top needs more of a radius to clean up fully

For the bandsaw knob just remove the radius and print in your original orientation, for thr screw hole you can either leave a single layer height blocking the hole which will allow the printer to bridge (and thn remove with a scalpel/drill afterwards or design 2 back to back 'D's around the hole for a single layer and then again on the next layer but rotated 90°:

If I even need to print another I will just remove the radius as it's not functional, just wanted to match the original really.

I've been playig with supports and for simple things, tree hybrid appears to work well. I've been ticking the box of "build plate only" - I think that leaves a small gap so that its easier to remove. Tree is much easier to remove from holes like the hex sockets I've been printing.

Now I’m new to all this, but I THINK Build plate only means it will only build supports from the actual build plate (ie not building on top of other structure pieces?) The small gap you refer to is the top Z parameter?

I use the "snug" setting for supports. They seem to remove easily enough.

Yep thats correct.
But once you have sliced it the supports show up so you can alter the settings and re slice. And then check again.

Will the tree rats simply chew through it to get the feed ? We've had some amazing things done by squirrels to get to the feeders .so i stopped using them . One was a feeder hung from along plastic covered steel wire some 6 feet off the ground with a dustbin lid above it . Still not sure how it managed to get the nuts in the feeder , either it jumped up or slide down the lid and managed to swing under it to land on the feeder tube .

Is there such a thing as a squirrel proof feeder ??

Can you recess the knob where the dome is and push in a lightly domed disc in the recess rather than try and fully print the dome on the knob ? I found out to my advantage that is how a lot of plastic injected knobs are made for both nut and bolt fits .

If you printed a separate glue in dome you could even do it in a contrasting colour.

We don't tend to get squirrels in the back garden as there's often a cat around. There's a large green at the front of the house where there's always a couple. We'll just have to see what happens.

I could do, if the done was necessary but I think it's only there now for ease of release from the mould...they both fit and work, the second one feels smoother than it looks so that's on the saw now, the other is being kept as spare as it will fit 2 or 3 different places.

No, especially when you mess up the adhesion and come home to a messy failed print

Still, cheaper than prototyping through the cnc shop and crikey, is it good stuff. The parts come off so strong.

I have an a1mini for small bits in pla and have recently added a qidi q1 to the workshop, that pretty much exclusively runs engineering filament.

Tempted to get something with an ams so I can print support and associated interfaces in different material.

Hello mate. If you want to print different types of filament you are better off looking at something with dual nozzles / extenders. Otherwise you’ll have to be flushing very large volumes.

For this reason I’ve just succumbed and ordered a H2C.
