What printer is that?

Qidi tech Q1 pro - £200 off facebook last week from a guy in Poole. I wanted something that would be a step up from my a1mini for doing engineering filament.

Generic coreXY running Klipper... Ethernet connectivity, heated chamber, usual modern stuff.

We've run an ancient ender3 at work so I'm not new to 3d printing, just new to modern 3d printers.

We love a bit of Disney at Xmas along with Lego so found some large scale Lego figures. This if obviously the grinch.

The Head was a 13hour print and I filled a whole bucket up with filament poop from the constant filament changes. Far from a perfect print as the prime tower fell over on the head so it was a bit of a stringy mess by the time it was done.

I've Got Jack and Sally from Nightmare before xmas to print next

Oh absolutely - I think we've got Bambu to thank for giving the industry a good kicking and getting things moving towards better performance.

Been away for a few months - busy getting stuck into 3d printing. This is Fiberon PPS-GF20 - amazing stuff.

I'd be interested in a little review of the filament, PPS does seem one of the highest spec. It appears to need a very high nozzle temperature that my P2S might not manage? 350c?

Im using polymaker fiberon pps at 330deg nozzle. No part cooling, no chamber heating. Perfect first print straight out of the bag and the end product feels really quite tough and crystalline. It has a certain sound to it.

This colour doesn't photograph well, but my first actual usable part off the printer that has been drawn by myself and has a purpose.

An M60x1.5mm test nut. I need to cut both male and female threads on a part i am turning but have no test pieces to fit them against, or thread measuring wires and while I could make it work as I'm doing both sides, if the threads are proper, I can make replacements or duplicates easier.

Also used this piece to have a go at printing knurling and just generally play about with design features. Happy with it overall

Generic flash forge PLA, 10% infill, took about 11 mins and 9g filament.

Few little snaggly bits to clean up with snips but the threads fit against a thread gauge nicely.

6 spools of PETG have just landed so about to load one and print a bed scraper, a little tool tray to hand on the printer side and then crack on with the facia hooks in white.

Only had it half a day and printed 20 meters already

Are you aware that you only need a single wire and the diameter is not that important as long as your able to measure it. A 0.8mm - 1mm drill bit shank or similar makes a good wire for measuring and theres an online calculator tt make it easier.

I had the idea of a climbers chainsaw scrench. A normal metal one is somewhat too big to carry up a tree and the long flat driver tip would be somewhat stabby.

First attempt was this, handle too small for the required torque. Printing it as a solid so that its strong.

Thats the current idea. Someone mentioned that white filament is weaker due to the titanium pigment dropping out so I used black for the important bit, kept it the rest white so its more visible.

Are you aware that you only need a single wire and the diameter is not that important as long as your able to measure it. A 0.8mm - 1mm drill bit shank or similar makes a good wire for measuring and theres an online calculator tt make it easier.

I got a flash forge adventurer 5M.

And yes, I know you only need 1 wire, but I don't carry drills smaller than 4mm and my only other alternative that would be dimensionally usable is soft copper so not ideal, then add to it that I'm cutting metric threads on an imperial lathe and it's just easier to use an existing thread.

For the sake of a few mins and some free PLA it was quicker and easier to print a nut than look about for something useable to measure with

Prototyping some equipment cases for work.
These are the final test product printed in ABS+.
Beautiful finish from the H2S. I’m hoping to get a run of 500 of these, if I manage it, I’ll buy a couple of H2C’s and knock them out on all three.

That might explain why i have more problems with white not retracting etc.

Little tool holder I found on thingaverse, 2hr print, black PETG, standard settings and auto supports. First print I've set to run and walked away from and it came out just fine. Got a bandsaw guide adjustment knobs just started now for my father

So, first failure (of sorts) and it was probably my fault...

Printed with the rough finish down, but it's a slightly domed surface and I used supports, but I think the combination of being less than 2mm from the build plate, the heat of the build plate and the heat from above caused issues as the surface finish on that face is horrendous...dimensionally it is perfect though and the rest of the surface finish is spot on, and as a bonus it works as it should so I'm going to stick another on later but oriented the other way up (the way orca wanted it the first time) with tree supports and see what happens.

The rough face is domed, or at least mean to be anyway, the finish is support material I just can't get off and I can only assume it's because it was so close to the plate, the furthest part of that face was only 2mm from the plate.

I've got another printed now using orca's suggestion for orientation, basically the complete opposite way to how I chose to lay it, so in about 90 mins I'll know what's what, I've got 2 other things on at the same time as well that I want for the crane for tomorrow.

Must admit, I am quite enjoying this

Next batch, need to play with the support settings as it's difficult to break loose, but parts came out decent enough.

Pen holder and radio clip for the crane, and the remake of the bandsaw knob that came out much better although I think the top needs more of a radius to clean up fully
