Can you walk into the space? If so then you can almost certainly get a digger in. There's also self propelled wheel barrows that will fit through a door way, some even loading shovels.

You've reminded me, are the Ali ones Ok?Ive done this job in a very similar situation with a breaker with a clay spade bit and a wheelbarrow to barrow it all up near the door, and poked my jcb back acter with a small bucket through the doorway and tipped into that to remove it to save having to push the barrow up a ramp to outside. I was removing a rubble floor and lowering it a bit for more headroom to the celing which was a solid concrete slab before pouring a new floor.

Its more than capable of this task if you have other jobs for it too it might even be cheaper than hiring one and you'll find cheaper/uk based sellers etc if you do some digging round aliexpress etc (as it were...). My favourite use so far is driving in fencing posts with a homemade tool, just apply hammer tool to top and brrrrr its in. I use it with a clay spade to do small trenches etc to lay services into when I cant get the jcb in near enough without risking some jcb fade on the structure. They take standard hex tooling bits and the clay spade is worth having...

And you can get em' cheaper then that from Screwfix sometimes, the 1 time only use break up a path lads, return them as faulty, they're not, and SF knock em' out on discount.

As i said prior -
And then i clarified the (rough) height, and got the impression one would not fit.
To be clear - i dont give a stuff which method is used. If i digger will fit, sounds good to me. If it does not, then it does not. I cant make it fit if it doesnt.
Ill measure next time im there.

A kango would be my minimum level of tooling...the purpose of using the spike is to make the job easier.
...yes in theory you can do the whole job with less tools!
I would not use anything you need to swing...the rock strikes would be seriously hard on your hands I reckon.
Andy Dufresne can attest to that.

i recon a fourm meet at yours plenty of beer and gently drop in to the convos that the floor needs lifting id say a coule hours with 20 or 30 blokes and some tools it will be all out and the cost off beer and curry

It's not at mine. That's my motivation.
My place is cluttered with machines.
A friend who has a farm and a whole stack of barns has been muttering about a wood workshop...
If I can facilitate the slab, then a bunch of my machines can go round there.
It'll be minor hassle having to get in the car to use them, but that would be well offset by having the space here.
(It's probably less than 5 mins drive - you could easily walk it, but not carrying loads of parts)
It took 30 pages to get a table out of a van.
500 tons of stones out of a barn floor is going to need more than a few beers and a curry.
It should still work with a hoke then splitting the sides off into the hole
You could deffo get a mini digger in.... idk what theyre like near you but last one I hired was £700 minimum charge
Figured you're not scared of hard work and would rather keep the cash in your pocket than theirs
Well 2 years in of occasional abuse and its still working and nothing has broke, so make your own judgement on that.
I keep oil in the tank in the breaker mechanism and dont leave it out wet so it probably gets a better life than most breakers dossed in the mud at the end of the day.
