What are people's tried and tested or keep away from thoughs on cheap cutting discs?

Need a bunch of 1mm as go through them pretty quickly being my goto disc, paying £10 for 10 via toolstation/screwfix etc just seems silly but so many brands on ebay (though most look like Chinese rubbish) so without testing them all I wonder what opinions people have if they've tried some or recommendations where to get good quality that's not £1/disc.

I got 10 Erbauer(?) discs from Screwfix on special offer. Steer clear, they were cr*p. I've bought cheapies from eBay in the past and they've been much better.
I cut a 3mm plate lorry recovery body up with the 10 from eBay, the Screwfix ones got through about 3" of 3mm plate and they were down to nothing

are you just wearing them out or spinning the centres out? Latter is leaning on the tool too hard. avoid cheap ones from a market stall, they are usually past their use by date, (There is one, stamped on the centre of the disc)

Norton, Bosch or Dewalt (in that order) if you need to get them from screwfix.

Otherwise, get 3m cubitron and experience what a cutting disc should really be like.

Or if you win the lottery, Pferd Steelox.

Most.of the high-end discs need a decent grinder though (especially if you are using cordless), I'd be wanting 1000w+ (or cordless equivalent) to get value for money out of the decent ones

Thomas Graham do Klingspor A60TZ for £1.01 + VAT each, they last pretty well, they're easily as good as pferd or rasta which are much more expensive. I bet they're better than toolstation ones.

I always fancied trying MYconsumables, they do them from 55p inc VAT each, not sure it gets any cheaper than that, a lot of people seem to like them on FB groups.

EDIT: Just realised that the klingspor prices aren't anything special at all these days TG even offer the pferd ones cheaper!

I don't think you'll get anything decent for much less than £1 each.

You can buy cheap ones in bulk for under 50p each but if you go thorough a decent amount of them it's not worth messing about with them. Buy decent discs and a decent grinder and they'll cut quicker, last so much longer and cut so much cleaner you'll soon make your money back in time saved.

tyrolit gets my vote , local welding supply guys here do them , they last better than most especially if you pay for them your self

I have been using these for as long as they have been making them, Local welding supplier introduced me to them.
First started buying the tins of 10 but they do a box of 50 as well. have been buying them instead as they work out much cheaper.
Have used them to cut Stainless, Hardox & other high carbon steels, large I beams, all sorts, never had a problem with them.
Had a look some retailers will do the box of 50 @ around £37 inc vat, so 74p each.

I use Bosch Inox disks, never had any problems and seem to wear ok.

Have had cheap disks explode before (at work), not nice!.

Never used Bosch cutting disks, but have had 9" Faithfull disintegrate on start up, needed a change of pants!
the Bosch flap discs are garbage, bought a load of them on special with their new fastening system.
the erbauer cheepies were better, and thats saying something.

As good as any other I have used 42p a disc. I think technique makes a huge difference, friend of mine who works on the farm for every disc he he used I could cut 10 times more steel with the same disc

Occasionally they have them at Lidl. The green ones are carp, but the blue ones for inox are really good. They last longer than Dewalt an other ones that I cant remember ........

Last ones I got were £5 for 10

ive had a few , mainly on cutting though thin pipe at a rotten angle and ive abused them so its my own fault not the disks

I bought bosch discs once and they were absolute rubbish. Turned to dust without doing much cutting.

I like the lidl inox ones but if you can get them the black parkside performance discs from lidl are awesome. Simply tear through metal with less sparks and dust, leave less burr and last much longer.
