About time I posted progress in this. I’ve been using the vice in half-finished state for a while but it’s not ideal to have it like that.
Anyway I’m going away this weekend so I painted it all up and left it to dry, so I can multitask
The turquoise is as close to original as I could get and I have to say it makes a nice change from blue. I’ll put some pics up when she’s all reassembled.

Getting there on this. All reassembled now, just some excess paint to clean off the jaws but so far I’m very happy.
Need to start thinking about building a better bench for this, the Fobco and the Selecta grinder. The current one is falling apart.

This is my Dad's Woden 190/7 that I would like to fix:
As you've probably already surmised, it's seen some action! The problem is that the jaws will tighten when bodged as found (see next photo) but not otherwise:
This was how it was when I unbolted it from the bench, here's another shot with that nut removed:
I'd love to have it working again, so if you have any idea what's missing, and what I could possibly do to fix it, I would love to hear from you! Cheers!

First, Welcome to the Mig Welding Forum.
The new nut, shown & removed, doesn't belong there. The notch in the half ( screw ) nut post is for the long wide bar attached to the spring loaded quick release lever, which seems to be missing. As best as I can determine, is that the shiny nut stands proud enough to make contact with the bench for the half nut to engage the large tommy bar screw. When removed, the half nut drops away from the tommy bar screw causing the issue.

A fairly easy problem. A tab of 1/8 steel with a bend, maybe 30° or so. Then a small screw, probably 1/8w.

You haven't posted a photo of the quick release lever. Does that still have the spring & nut on it?

Agreed, flipping the vice and showing us what we’re dealing with would be a good start.
