Einhell 24L 1.6hp Oil Free Air Compressor 230V -very loud - how to quieten?

It is loud and seems to take ages to fill. Are there any good ways to dampen the noise on this compressor? Thanks.

I switched it off. That quitened it down a bit.

put it in a hole in the garden...then fill the hole in...just leave a little channel for air to get in

in all seriosuness im pondering the same issue with my compressor. i think im going to box it in to a corner, remote switch on the outside, extend the drain valve out too, then vent the outer wall of the shed for cooling and drawing in air. can line the box with eggshell foam then to reduce noise inside the shed and direct it more towards the neighbours that think it is appropriate to play drum and bass intil 4am every single night...well, every night until i realised they have the old style council electric meter and token box in a cabinet outside...they may have lost a few main fuses but they eventually took the hint that they were only going missing after the music was on

I've a Bambi for the airline, and an ancient IR for more demanding needs (which rarely gets any use).

An enclosure is likely your best bet for that.

Would a belt drive be quieter? I'm thinking of upgrading to a 100ltr with a bit more power eventually

Good to know. Currently have an oil free 50ltr 2hp Scheppach (or whatever its called) that i usually end up putting outside and round the side when I know I'm going to have it on all day...can here it fire up from inside the house and its atleast 30 yards away

most of the noise is from the intake, see if you can take off the grossly inadequate air filter and replace it with an oil bath filter, makes a huge difference, then put it outside in an insulated but ventilated box as detailed above!

Not in my (single) experience of one, Phil. The mechanical noise is horrendous.

I've been thinking about renting out workshop space somwhere, but it's not cheap and it's not my main job so, i'd prefer to stay at home for now. Not really practical unless I can work out how to reduce noise though.

1) Put it somewhere else that you aren't, run line to where you are

2) Isolate the feet with Cork mat, rubber granule blocks, reinforced EVA etc

3) Build an enclosure (most effective, most effort)
