Also need the locks to stop the head swinging round. Bigger gear is a cast alloy one out of an old kenwood chef gearbox, smaller one is steel off something else, can't remember what, but they mesh fine. No nylon gears used on this job.Aye, I was thinking that it might be a bit optimistic to rely on a nylon gearwheel holding that head in place

Good idea that so you have the can going round in a planetery sort of fashion. Now I need another wiper motor.Couple of elastic bands to hold can on angle , 2 speed have a 12volt 4A dc psu as power bit of cut off RSJ to hold it down
Real cobble up but works no shaking tin, the ball in the can does the work. Warning dont put the switch where I did

I used a piece of angle with a shaft welded on it to go in the lathe chuck and ran the lathe slow, tied the can on, gave it a couple of minutes then turned the can 1/4 turn and gave it another minute turning, it was ok too.

Wiper motors often have nylon gears with a steel worm, is what I was thinking. Of course you need the locks to stop it swinging, my Perrin is the same
I had the motor gearbox cover off too and re greased it, dambed if I remember what the gears were made of, there is definitely a worm gear as you say, think the other one was an alloy, but could be wrong.Wiper motors often have nylon gears with a steel worm, is what I was thinking.
