That was my old Mk1 facelift going back about 25 years ago. I swapped in a Rover V8, the new owner put in a TVR lump, 4.0 I guess.

There's a Capri in the garage across the road. It was there 27 years ago when I moved in. It's a 280 Brooklands. The owner bought new tyres 26 years ago, they're still stacked next to it.

That was the last model they made, worth a tidy sum now if you can find one, wasn’t in my budget then but I did have a 3.0 Ghia

They only made a 1000 or so, so rare now.
The bikers on here would be gutted to see what's languishing in there.

Neighbour had one of those, it got stolen, police found it minus the seats and wheels, recovery company just dragged it onto their wagon and the damage they did got it written off

Always fancied a Capri, sometime in the late 90s there was a regular roadside diy 'trader' type bloke who left motors parked up with the big price stickers in the window.
On the way to a job I saw a Capri sat there, 200 quid, I ogled it driving past on a couple of days running and thought ''I'll have that''..
.. naturally the next day I went back and it was gone

I'm trying to decide if I should buy a cheaper beed roller and make what I need rather than buy all the panels which would be £££ easy. Any advice on these ? I watched a review on the first one and it looked usable. Maybe I could go and get one from machine mart, bit more expensive for the same thing?

Pardon our interruption...

I stripped out all the interior yesterday, Today I'm going to get the heat gun on the sound deadning and hopefully file down some of the metal to try and get to good metal. I should pick up some bracing for the doors too.

A sharp wood chisel often brings off that sounds deadening in lumps and leaves less mess to clean up

I find heating sound deadening just smears it around, making actually removing it harder and messier. I use a sharp wood chisel(an old one, or a cheapy bought for the purpose) to shave it off.

The basic bead rollers won't help you much if you want to match the existing beads in the inner sills, as the supplied dies don't match. They are handy for other beads, stepped flanges and shearing. I recently made a tipping die for mine that should make starting curved flanges easier. You will want to stiffen the machine, as they are a crap design that flexes as soon as you turn the handle(which should be a wheel). Mine has three pieces of 50mm angle(that spent decades as a fence post) welded in a U-shape to the back that makes it actually usable.

I would suggest that your jobs would benefit from a cheap folder and then a shrinker/stretcher before a bead roller. Machine Mart do one that works OK, and costs about the same as buying the material to make one.

Splitting the floor from the sill certainly isn't a nice job to do. Ideally you'd drill out the seat runner pieces, then make a cut 1" running from front to back. I'd do in 2 foot lengths at a time were it mine. Do the whole lot in one go and you'll wish you never started it! Replace the floor 1 with right angle in the places you chopped out and then add the vertical for the inner sills and spot weld that to the new 90 angled floor bit. That's what I'd do were it mine. If that doesn't make sense I'll try to draw something up in photoshop.

Today I spent ages with a heat gun cleaning up the factory sound proofing and puttin it in a bin bag.

After that I tried to clean up bits of the edge of the floor and any bits of surface rust to see what went through. I was a bit overwelmed with how bad it was but after a brew I went back out and got "the nibbler" on the floor and cut a neat(ish) line.

The hole closest to the cross member doesnt look to clever but I was hoping to remake this Although I don't know if I'd have to then unpick the cross member.

I have been advised to get a whole new floor section but at the moment this feels a lot as a novice.

Here the end of the Sill has gone in a hole so I need to get better access to this.

Tomorrow I'm thinking I'll cut this bottom half of the wing off to gain access

You might be right. I do have another wing for this side but not trying to give myself a heart attack lol. I know at the top there needs to be a few repairs and the wing rails arnt great... Maybe I should take it off.

Drill out the spots under the bonnet and along the bottom:

There are spots where the wing attaches to the A post:

Worst bit is where the wing attaches around the headlight.
