[For all those who never clean their vehicles] - it shows how much you care for your vehicle.

Does it?

I choose to spend the time I could spend making the paintwork shiny making sure it's well maintained and safe. I do clean the inside and underneath though.

Prioritising the aesthetics doesn't mean it's well maintained. As the old saying goes "chrome wont get you home"

For all those that 'proudly' leave all the moss, lichen, bird ****, leaves, fag ash, spilt liquids stale food and drinks etc. on and in their car, to a tech, it shows how much you care for your vehicle - but expect us to give it an annual service and muck-out? I really hope your houses are in a better state.
Some of 'em deserve a tin of pilchards (opened) inside the heater box, but I doubt they'd notice, the skanks.

When you see who traffic doesn't pull out on you, doesn't cut you up, doesn't tailgate . . . As for parking . . . loads of room left around me to get in and out, and it's so far always been where I left it.

Underneath however, where it counts, I'd put money on my cars being in better condition than yours. Weekly checks underneath, damage sorted, tyres checked/replaced, brakes pipes/hoses, CV boots, any leaks etc.

I've been going to the same place for MOT for 30 years with three of my cars, maybe four some years, and the current other half's car each year - he's got me once on a defunct brake light that failed on the way there - he was dancing around the rollers . Two cars are 34 yrs old, one 24, one 18 and one 8 and the other half usually believes old cars aren't reliable, so theirs are usually only a couple of years old - one failure point (fixed there and then, so actually a pass) in over 120 tests.

Totally.
Personally I can't stand a dirty car inside or outside. It helps that I find car cleaning very therapeutic, out to the garage, radio on i can easily spend half a day washing and polishing cars. Both sons now driving and still living at home and aren't very inclined to wash their cars so I do theirs and my wife's as well.

I use an autoglym blade and a drying towel. Occasionally use the blow gun and compressor to clear lingering water out of mirrors, door trims etc.

how strange , so im somehow inferior and drive badly maintained cars now because i dare say that enjoy keeping a clean car ?

do you have opinions on people that cut their lawn and clean their gutters too?

turn up at customers houses in a sh itty van and there not impressed i never go to car washes they strip the wax off with tfr then a daft coat of wash and wax i hand wash and wax every week and a decent polish every few month bodywork on last van had no rust even after 80 thousand miles

I only wash the van when it’s raining, rain does half the rinsing and leaves it streak free.
On the downside there hasn’t been any decent rain for months, the vans now looking slightly green

I don't smoke for starters. I never eat in my car ( or wifey's immaculate Swift Sport). I do all the servicing, it's never failed an MOT on mechanical parts, the welds are because of rot, all sorted.
Our house is neat and tidy thank you.
Books, covers and judging.
Your superior attitude does grate at times.

i dont find the cheaper water blades work so well , harder edge , but im sure theres some cheaper than £30

get a decent drying towel and experiment with the open hose method, simply trickling low pressure water from a plain hose pipe instead of a sprayer makes alot of the water just sheet off , then wipe up the rest with a towel

If you have one locally, setup an account with spotless water and do the final rinse with their 0TDS water. I'll still dry the car off with a towel, but for the most part you wouldn't really need to. I've yet to see a good air drier that isn't excessively expensive.

our van that's never had a careful owner and i clean twice a year, whether it needs it or not, got to over 200k before some rust came through on the rear arch. Yours should be good to 800k

I aspire to keeping my car immaculate, but too much work/projects/ a family gets in the way and I hardly ever wash it. I keep it well maintained so it is safe and reliable. I also think there is something in Bricol's observation on the manners of drivers, in my experience it is those in their shiny cars who are the most self-important and least courteous.

However, back to the question. Those tiny rechargable air dusters are good for this. Some of them are pretty damn powerful. Check out the Torque Test Channel, they have around 3 videos on it (or Project farm)

its good ive had mine for near 20 years and still flexable

a bloke at work he borrowed mine like it so much when to buy one and after he seen the price he bough a less than a 10er version from amason its not as flexable so leaves more water on the bendy parts of the car but does the same just not take as much water off

but for 30 sovs id pay it again for the amount of time ive had it
