Would anyone know the minimum thickness for the discs?
I'll probably buy genuine ford unless anyone can recommend a good make? I had delphi pads and discs up front last time and they squeal like a pig!
Ford Serviceinfo (formerly ETIS) still specifies a minimum of 1.5mm, maybe AD are adding both pads together?
Busy-busy, the usual slew of BMW & M-B timing chains, together with lots of aircon jobs and the seasonal uplift in rag-top repairs (or 'foreskin' as my mate calls them) TBH, i'm looking at reverting to dealer employment, for a few reasons, chief amongst them is the number of 'snotters' coming through the doors with little or no money to spend.... but expect 'diagnosis' to include repairs, because 'you just plug it in and the car tells you what's wrong, so why should I pay you for that'.
Yep, they seem to be 'ignored' until they're no longer driveable, then they want the last xx-years worth of issues dealt with in an hour with parts cost of ~£50, even though the SRI has been screaming at them for the last 768 days (like the one I saw earlier this week). The only jobs we get without issue are ones from dealerships selling non-brand used cars or ones with aftermarket warranties, even service and MoT jobs seem to all have 'issues' of one kind or another - we've taken to doing MoT's as they should be - i.e. as the vehicle is presented for test, no more 'pre-MoT inspections, if they fail on something stupid (EML on, brakes below 1.5mm, tyre damaged or below 1.6mm, vanity registration plates fitted etc.) then they get failed and the driver advised it has failed, not will fail.,
Then there's the other side, that is increasingly a smaller proportion - bringing cars in for minor issues, that will prevent bigger and more costly issues later on, services on time or mileage, keeping them legal - which also ties in with the minimum acceptable standards of safety for the occupants and everyone around...
We had a M-B GLE in yesterday, rear suspension had been dropping overnight for ~4 months, root cause was the valve block not shutting off properly due to moisture ingress (poor design decisions by M-B), however, it now needs both rear air springs replacing due to having more stretch marks than a fat lass with the corresponding air leaks - could have been prevented if the valve block was changed a lot earlier, preventing the stress on the air springs....
I agree, dealing with the public is the problem.
Day in, day out.
I'd shoot the lot of them, but it's frowned upon apparently.
And a few more besides!...
So...? Old Git - which franchise gets the old man next - you done the rounds - Merc VW JLR Pug have you not...? Can't you find some Suzuki dealership and spin a few filters on OAP's cars - drink some tea - till retirement.
