Lovely work Hitch.

I did Googlefoo Yellow Submarine before your post so you are not alone! It's a canal submarine,
haha! Yes I tried that chip, and it worked fine with LEDs, but damned if I could get it to run the stepper drivers. Same with most of the other ways I tried as well.Nice.
I ran into the same thing with my ESP32 CNC control: 74HCT245D is your friend.
I've seen some big trackers that use a group of 4 photo sensors with a small shield between them. The shield casts a shadow on the sensors if it isn't pointed straight at the sun, and the controller just steers the array to keep the intensity on all 4 sensors the same. Starts from a mechanical 'home' position every morning.
Transit custom if Im not mistaken? The sliding door was never designed for insulating, the sealed vapour barrier stopped the moisture soaking the panels, allowing the water to drain out. I noticed following insulating mine after about 6 month, it was growing mould at the bottom right hand corner as you look from the inside. Traced it to the door handle, which is not sealed to the elements, this allows water to work its way past, trickle along the inside of the door and out the drain holes which Ford accounted for. Adding insulation, just wicks this all up leading to a soggy mess! I ended up fabricating a simple drain gutter and bonded it just under the door handle, and a bit of 6mm hose to the bottom of the door, this collects and runs out keeping everything nice and dry on the inside of the panelsFinally finished soundproofing and insulating the rear of the van so I've started refitting some of the trim.
The hardboard panel on the side door was way beyond rescuing so I used it a template for a new one:

And covered it with 4 way stretch carpet. First time I've attempted anything like this so I'm pretty happy with the result:

And the finished article, before and after:

And I'm amazed at the difference all this soundproofing and insulation has made. The cab will get the same treatment in the fullness of time but already the van is much quieter to drive and be in and should be a lot warmer in autumn and winter.
The others that were waiting to be lock stiched, done!Finished a rope spliced eye.

Note the needle which split in the lock stich however I got the eye out, its safe to use, tho it did slice my thumb open!
Next to it is the previous attempt - splice went well but lock stiching too far up, too tight and snapped many needles, got a piece stuck in there, had to cut it off as unsafe like that.
Thus is a tree rope I bought in December, 20M, good length for most domestic trees, not used yet as I wanted to splice the end, which is a pain on used rope.
Nooo none of that racey paint. That looks like British Racing Green ? A bit fast for that car![]()
A pal of mine on Unst has a Big 7 in that colour. Nice!Nooo none of that racey paint.
This is Westminster Green a proper 1930’s gentleman’s colour.
Still looks good with gold (tasteful) stripework.Nooo none of that racey paint.
