standard hager mcb from most wholesalers for about 4 quid sh.itty electrics if one near byI need to add a 32a mcb to this CU in the garage for a ring for a new office room I've installed. Searching Hager 450132 only brings up used items. Is there anything I can buy new that will fit?

its good gearYep, one of the new Hager MCB's will fit in that.
They are one of the few manufacturers who have not changed their assembly dimensions in the last 30 or so years.
Hager are one of my go to manufacturers!
A standard, yes. The standard, perhaps.I thought they were all a standard size?

its catch 22 nothing in the regs saying you cant fit another manufactures mcb if they fit bad . news is you then become responsible for the design and manafacturer of the said product and have to have the relevant paperwork to prove item so in other words no you cant . both companys are now not responsible for the productA standard, yes. In Australia, consumer boards are standard in that any approved components with fit and operate properly.
In the UK, someone correct me if I am wrong, there is a belief that the wiring regulations are only complied with if all components are from the same manufacturer and model. I don't know if that is explicitly stated or just widely assumed.
In the US, you have to buy components that are designed for the board you are using because they won't fit/mount otherwise.

a posher way of putting it than minethe wiring regulations require all protective devices to meet the requirements of the relevant product standards and type approvals.
Manufacturers only type approve their products for use in their equipment.
If you mix and match manufacturers then you assume the role of manufacturer of the finished assembly and become responsible for the compliance of it.
If you are installing a standard DB then it's more cost effective to go down the type-approved route but if you're making anything custom, like a control panel, then you're already taking on the responsibility for manufacturing it and can mix and match whatever brands you like.
Some interchange, others don't. I've a mix in my workshop board. It's the relative position of the busbar that's the problem. They are a standard physical size, the connections are indifferent places and use different connection methods.

What router are you using for your wifi?Excellent. Thanks All. I have one on its way - just got to finish the lights and sockets and some carpets now and the room will be finished. The single garage now has a second floor with log burner and velux installed with sofa, desks and filing cabinets all waiting to go in. I may need to run an ethernet cable out there from the house as with all the foil backed insulation, I think I am blocking a wifi signal that used to reach this space! Its going to be a decent office once finished!
We use a TP link Deco mesh. Theres one I might move to see if it can get a better signal over to the garage. I hope it can. I was in there today. The phone shows a better signal up near the velux I've fitted which does make me thing the foil backed kingspan etc has blocked some out inside. What router are you using for your wifi?
When we got fibre broadband we were supplied with an eero router.
Recently I bought some 2nd hand eero routers and created a mesh network in the yard and outbuildings. I am very impressed at how well they spread the signal through thick block walled sheds with tin roofs.
A bit fiddly to set up but worth the effort.
