Car Creeper

Piece of carpet or old gym mat I find far more convenient if I'm working outside. The workshop floor is so nice and smooth it's comfortable enough just lying on it.

Ditto. I've looked at getting a creeper, but it would only really have been of use if I still had the Tranny and it was well up on stands.
For normal car use, not so much.
I have an old 4ft x 6ft rug type thingy which works well and keeps muck and insects off my bod and hair.

I found creepers a waste of time...on mine the wheels kept falling off.

I was using mains tools and managed to trap myself under the car as the wheels got stuck on the bloomin cables!

Best solution for me by far was a car roller!!!

My previous one died when I lowered the lift onto it and converted it to modern art.

All the creepers are a pita, as soon as you try and do anything difficult the bloody thing wants to go every way it can to make your life awkward.
Thye are pretty much useless on cars, and are even to high to get under hgv trailers.

The dense foam mats are pretty good, the cheap ebay ones for 15 quid are good value for money, though mine is currently soaked in hydraulic oil whilst replacing hoses on a Moffett.

Had you soaked a bit of plywood in hydraulic oil - quick spray of TFR - pressure wash - let it dry - good as new...

They always feel warm. I can confess to falling asleep under a vehicle on a Saturday morning after a heavy Friday night.

mine came from Lidl's, I'd give it to u if I lived closer.....ps it also folds up to make a rolling stool.....
my prob is old age.....I can get down on it but need help getting back up.....hahaha...

I do the same, bike boxes are good if you have a cycle shop close

Yep, about 40 years ago I would have been up for that, now it's a trans jack or an engine/gearbox out jobbie.

I now agree with that, but we were invincible when we were young, nothing was too hard.

Just get the job done, earn the cash and go out on the town....

I generally also prefer plain old rubber or foam mats with cardboard on top.

My garage floors and exterior concrete are a poor surface for any tools with wheels.

I did have a creeper board of the plastic variety in red. Which faded to Barbie pink so f££ked it in the skip.

Ordered this black one which is the type I prefer and cheap enough

For the occasional use it will get it will be worthwhile having around. The metal frame foldy ones I find are pure junk and fold the opposite way in use!

I will steam it off, the hyd oil has not soaked in, it is just smothered in it, naturally the steam cleaner broke a week ago, boss is sorting is asap honest!

Thats how most of us carried on years ago, if I tried it now I would probably have to sponge my legs off.
