Car Creeper

mine came from Lidl's, I'd give it to u if I lived closer.....ps it also folds up to make a rolling stool.....
my prob is old age.....I can get down on it but need help getting back up.....hahaha...

Put it this way my is on Defender on 33" tyres and there's only just enough clearance under it for me to work with a creeper (sat on its wheels) and given standard axle stands are fairly near the top of their adjustment to get the wheels off the ground...

I also find that those extra few inches means it also feels quite cramped working on one and a 110 isn't particularly densly packaged underneath. Piece of carpet or old gym mat I find far more convenient if I'm working outside. The workshop floor is so nice and smooth it's comfortable enough just lying on it.

I’ve got a similar creeper & don’t use it much, I generally prefer to slide a large piece of cardboard under & work off that. Like Frank said above, they are difficult to get on & off them, they keep rolling away. The best answer is to get someone else to do the underneath bit & you just supervise

As well as the getting on and off, the wheels get caught on anything bigger than a grain of sand, mine doesn't have a crush tube for the casters so the bolt comes loose as the tube deforms with use, the sides didn't allow full movement especially bad when lifting heavy items from above to the floor, there are ones with dropped side rails around the shoulders that should be better for that.

Yep, you learn to roll off (not so gracefully at times) on to your knees... then crawl around on all fours, until you find something to climb up with your hands.

Dignified it isn't but you get used to it.
Other than that you wait until all witnesses are out of sight....

Old age sucks...

I use a 3mm plastic pallet liner I managed to acquire.

I agree entirely with "cobbler" - I bought one as I thought at 71 years of age it would help me to access those "under car" situations.
In point of fact it does and doesn't - the downside is that I find it very difficult to get on and off it.
The end result is I find my piece of carpet, measuring about half the size of my body foot print, (when laying down), infinitely more practical and easier to live with.

Unless you have really nice smooth floor they can be hard work, I dont use one just a nice soft mat and its fine getting under, getting out can be a bit more problematic!

i use a camping roll mat now, I have a creaper but my friveway aint flat the wheels wear out quickly on the creepers and they can take up valueable space

My real problem is that I honestly found out those trolley things are useless if not just to check beneath the car.
You figure out as well while trying loosen up something or using a torque wrench.
You'll start rolling around instead of applying any force on the fasteners.
So a piece of cardboard is more useful IMHO

I had one of the old fashioned wooden ones from snap on which worked well, also used it as a kneeling board while welding up vw camper vans.Also great if I had a car on a ramp and wanted to get to something underneath without moving the ramp.I gave it away to a chap that bought a side cab tool box off me a couple of months ago as it made a good furniture mover for wheeling it about.

Useless waste of space, you just end up rubbing your nose on the underside of the car and whizzing around the floor when you try to undo anything. I gave mine away.

I've found my creeper while re-arranging the garage, never used it to get under a car, but it was great for moving Land Rover axles around so it must be strong.

Took a couple of pics to see if anyone on the local FB groups want a free one.
