Loving those acers , must get some to replace ones that have gone.Mine used to be nice to sit out of a sunny day but now there's stuff all over it like swings, Rocking chairs, Tables etc but all of them are filled with Bonsai trees now!, Also, the grass is almost non existent and there are no leaves on the hedges, I hate winter!!

Mum had several and decided to sell them as getting on felt she could nt look after them any more , I regret letting her , so now want to replace , like you she got them very small and grew them on , one thing she said I remember is acers thrive when pot bound , hers certainly did . Loverly garden you have done there , great stuff , must be a source of happiness to you . cheersThanks Arther, I love Acers!

A few days ago I dug up four Acers (2x 'Going Green and 2x Orange Dream), The tallest were between 7' and 8' tall, I planted them in the garden a few years ago to get them to grow quicker, They were from Morrisons and about 16" tall!!
I also dug two Field Maple Bonsai and repotted four more Acers, I feel like Giant Haystacks threw me out of the bathroom window now!, It wouldn't have bothered me when I was younger- Almost chuffin did me in this time!!![]()

never found the need to buy seed potatoes , just leave them in the bag and sprouting in couple weeks , last lot I put in the field were attacked by the rats from next door stables , had to plough them all in .Made a start on the potatoes...bought seed potatoes on eBay....it's a supplier I've used for several years.
Rest of my plants will be bought in...just not got the time for seed growing unfortunately.
So true...I grow a lot of beetroot...most shops only stock the basic purple ones and I really like the golden variety.Probably a combination of not sitting in a warehouse for 6 months, not being varieties that are grown for shelf life,
MASH!!! Surly earlies boiled in lightly salted water with a few leaves of mint from the weed patch and smeared in proper butter ,salted or unsalted according to taste, is manner from heaven. So true...I grow a lot of beetroot...most shops only stock the basic purple ones and I really like the golden variety.
You'd definitely assume that potato growing is pointless given how cheap they are....but I can really taste the difference. Doing mash with fresh spuds is so much quicker than shop bought too.
or come with their own meat.
I have let potatoes finish in an old compost pile that hadn't been added to for about a year, didn't do too well as the mixture didn't hold moisture. If the compost pile is active it will be too likely to get diseases and pests or just get nothing if it's an active enough compost it will probably be too hot. Best get it early and move it to grow elsewhere or pull off any growth and let it rot down.I've noticed potatoes occasionally growing out of my compost bins. Are they safe to eat? Might sound like a daft question.
No idea what variety. Could be shop bought or homegrown ones a mate gave me that went to seed.
Or should I replant them?
My wife bought me an acer from woolies a few years agoThanks Arther, I love Acers!
