Price crash diesels heaters

I’ve seen suggested the ones with the adjustable AFR are the ones to go for – no idea how you tell the difference.

I’m quite tempted to get one to heat the workshop as its still flipping cold in there – but I wonder how well it would actually cope with 100 square meters of cold machinery across three rooms, given they are designed to heat a van.

0.5l/hr consumption of kerosene equates to about 5500 Watts output. Does that seem right?

No. They are 4kw.

I use 2x to heat 50sqm. Mind you it gets up to 21c even in a cold winter. 2 should keep the chill off.

I run 30amp ones - they are Chinese amps. Only needed for the glow plug - drops down to an amp or 2 when running.
The power supplies seem very reliable and only cost £20 or so.

Wouldn't be any good IMO. People on here will claim they will heat it though - but in my experience no good at all.

You would really need one of these which are a great job. Pricey but clean heat, plenty of it and no fumes. I'm giving my back garage China Diesel heater to a friend for free for a future camper van project he plans.

If you can run the flue somewhere they are great - very noisy though I assume?

It came with lots of flue fittings, enough to go right through the roof or elbows to crank out through the wall. Plus 7m of ducting and splitters. Factory thermostat kit and running great. Good used for £450 locally. I sold my direct SIP smaller heater for £200 so I'm out +£250 for the upgrade basically which was a bargain as this full Arcotherm setup new is between £1700 - £2k depending where you look.

Yes it is noisy in use. Not terrible but similar to belt driven air compressor noise level. I think it will be OK when placed inside an insulated enclosure and on the other side of my garage where there is the most space between it and neighbouring house. For me in my garage it doesn't bother me at all but living in a town I try to be mindful of my neighbours.

Is there still a few recommended upgrades? I know people suggest the fuel line is crap and fails and an upgraded pump is nice, even if just for the noise reduction.
So far mine is still on standard both and it’s in the third year, always ran flat out. Tempted to pick up another. The maxspeedingrods or what ever the brand is do one already upgraded but seems to be out of stock.

I have two to heat a 30 sq.m workshop. One doesn't cut it, plus they break often so two makes sense.
I cant remember what these things claim to put out, but putting hand over the outlet, is is SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than a 3kW leccy blow heater.
China is having some issues due to tarriffs and factory gate prices which are probably causing them to dump stock.

Ticks over at about 0.42 l/hr on kerosene, around 3kW, but will get up to about 12 kW at 1.5 l/hr on full belt.
It's also proper handy for drying stuff, and the like.
No electricity needed , and its dead reliable.....

I don't like the idea of some random combustion device blowing air around in a confined space . . . and if it's that cold in the garage that I need one, I'd rather be inside the house doing something.

I would love one but roof too high for a flue and whilst I would be fine lighting it others wouldn't be!

My Chinese heater has directional ducting and adjustable outlet cowls there is nothing random about the direction I point the heated clean air to. As such I'd say a ladies hair dryer on full blow will move more warm air , 18 inches away from the outlets air movement is barely noticeable .

Volume to heat approx. 70 cubic metres to heat from 3 oC to 17 oC in about an hour & a half , set on level 3 and on remote start. so it's nice & toasty before I go out to play in my mancupboard .
