Small things that save time.

Best time saver for me, was labelling everything in the workshop. (Baring machines obviously). Now a five minute job in there, takes 5 minutes!

Keeping a biro and keys in my pocket, saves time hunting for them, when needed.

Having more than one angle grinder and drills for a task means less time swapping blades / bits.

Keep the big coats by the door, that way you can put them on when you come in from work - it saves time having to find the key to the locked box with the key for the padlock on the thermostat if it's gone below 4 degrees whilst you've been out.

Not if you have a pair of labradors

The downside is you've got to remember to wash them after the labs have been at them because you often can't tell if they've been washed or not.

Our Collie used to do most of the washing up ! Now that really did save time, but Im sure visitors would be appalled.

Did wash them afterwards though.

a friend of mine stopped for dinner saw me put the plate down for the dog and lick it clean irr dont like that . so i said one day it licked it clean and my daughter thought it had been washed and put it away soft sod thought we were being serious and wouldnt stop for dinner again

Another vote for dog pre-wash. Dog’s happy, washing up’s easier (apparently…), dishwasher jets don’t get clogged, drain doesn’t block with fat.

Giveaway is, they’re on the floor with some dog hairs on, at least with a hairy spaniel. Sometimes a paw mark where he’s gone for extra purchase.

I like thing in set places keys etc.....that makes it easier for my wife to find stuff....
SO that she can leave it just anywhere....for me to find again...drives me nuts....
I have given up now after 26 years of trying...
I'm lucky enough to have a biggish workshop.....I have 8 bench drills....4 with set size bits and one with a counter sink rerady to go...

For about the last 15 years I've always had a Leatherman multitool in my pocket, the hours or weeks I've saved not having to go get a screwdriver, pair of pliers etc, honest.

I'm the same; so much so that reckon my Leatherman Wave is the best £80 I've spent in 36 years of buying tools. They're not kidding about the warranty either - when I quit my job, I sent it(with three blades broken by abuse) and a bent Squirt back, and received new replacements 3 days later.

They're pilot drills. You want a clearance hole in the part the screw is passing through.

Very basic one, but putting little coloured key caps on those keys that look the same, eg Yale ones, has saved such a lot of time and faff on the doorstep. They cost pennies too.
