Small things that save time.

Everytime I do these two things I wonder how much time I actually save.

1. Washing the masher immediately after use.

2.Wrinkling the edge cling film so it's got something to grab next time it's used.

I often wonder if others have their pet time saving tips.

Putting a fold on adhesive tapes - although being a Yorkshireman it conflicts with my 'waste nowt' upbringing... so I put the tiniest fold on one corner of the tape, hoping that the rest of the edge will be useful.

At this time of year we always rearrange the cars on the driveway so that whoever needs to go out first need not defrost several cars to move them before they can get out. It saves a lot of time on a frosty morning.

I work shifts so I put my clothes in the bathroom to get dressed in the morning and not have to hunt for clothes in the dark and also most importantly not wake up the better half, specially on weekends does that count

Gah! Please shout that a bit louder so my wife can hear… She cuts the end with scissors, them smooths down so it amalgamates with the rest of the roll.

A 5-minute ‘put away’ of tools during a job seems to save far more than that in time, looking for things.

Washing our wooden-handled potato masher has probably saved it from getting handle rot, from being soaked in the dishwater. We've had it for more years than I can remember...probably 40 years!! Just for that, alone, it's been worth it.

The Lakeland Plastics Wrapmaster cling film dispenser is superb, as the cling film is ready to go, which has got to save 10 or 20 seconds each time it's used. Using the dispenser, it's possible to cut a strip of cling film that's as little as 3mm "long" which can have its uses, e.g. keeping things in place during food preparation, or whilst gluing things together.

I have a roll of 2" wide tape that does that any time I let go of it. When I wrap stuff to send out, I usually have to hold the carboard in place, grab a length of tape, and tape it down. When I've left the tape from the last time I used it, I fold a bit over, but I'm not wasting that much tape for every single piece I remove. I bend it back, and that usually lasts until I need the next piece, but sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, it's a terrible job to find the end, even though it's not been smoothed down. I've even drawn an arrow on the top of the tape roll to show which way I need to run my fingernail to find it. I can still have to do more than one circuit before I can get under the edge. I was advised to just stick it to a pen or pencil each time, but it's tricky to do when you're also holding the card in place. I'd use a parcel tape gun but it's a big roll that I got from an autojumble, started out around 12" diameter, so it won't fit.

I keep the clingfilm roll in the fridge, it makes it easier to find the end and unroll.

think il start doing that .getting well narked off trying to get in to the insulation tapes daily

i do that working on jobs the annoying bit is the punter thinks your finished the job and asks how much . il tell you when im finished

if you cut the folded end off and re use it on the new end, you dont waste as much,

foam ear plugs last me ages , chuck them in soapy water , after a while quick scrub with nail brush and left to dry .good as new

For about the last 15 years I've always had a Leatherman multitool in my pocket, the hours or weeks I've saved not having to go get a screwdriver, pair of pliers etc, honest.

Always wash pans the moment you've dished up. A hot pan washes very easily where a cold pan with dried, baked on food is a chore.
It only takes a minute so your meal doesn't go cold and saves lots of time later.
...... and don't leave dirty dishes in the sink. The sink is for washing stuff not storing carp - and if it's always ready to use......

I fill a flask at work so we can have a cup of tea and a hot water bottle for free when I get home.
At work I always have a spanner in my pocket along with a few essentials as its a great time saver
