Is that a Pytchley? The sliding roof on my Morris 8 is and it's made from wood.Someone decided to use filler and fibreglass to repair the Austin Seven sliding roof frame but I prefer steel.

No seals? I've also brought the sides of my top down to give more protection from the rain. I had mine coated, but have since added a couple of strap points to the front.I didn't want a full blown top box but my Kriega US20 bag was getting full and I needed some place to store tools, pump, puncture repair kit etc.
Made up an aluminium box to fit on the rear rack and fitted the rack plate I had previously made to the top of it.
Test fitted it today to see if I liked it, I think it is ok but will look fine once it has been powder coated black.

It is just a test fit to see if I like it. Once powder coated I will put neoprene on the lid to seal. Everything inside will be in small dry bags as well so should be fine.No seals? That is really kind of you but I really only need the one and it would likely just sit around doing nothing.@Hood
If you’d like another Kriega US20 to strap onto your existing one, I have one here that I never use anymore.
Bought it years back and used it once on a trip to the Ardennes and it’s been in the cupboard ever since!
Not sure I’d be allowed to advertise it on here - it’s not workshop equipment or tools so I suspect the mods wouldn’t approve it.That is really kind of you but I really only need the one and it would likely just sit around doing nothing.
I am sure if you offered it up here there would be someone who would use it.
Are you going to have a rack on the lid of the box so you can strap the Kriega (or other stuff) on the top?I have been looking at the tail box I made for the bike and the downside to it was the lock and catch were taking up a lot of internal space.
I did a bit of searching and found this which looked perfect.

So I took out the lock and immediately I could pack more stuff in.

In the 3 drybags I have a small toolkit, puncture plug kit, pump, pressure gauge and jump starter, so pretty happy as that was all the stuff I used to carry in the Kriega.

Now all I need to do is make a new lid, weld a plate for mounting the lock then get it powder coated.
Oh you can also see the neoprene seal I tested out, it will make it water tight as well so the dry bags are probably not even needed.
Yes as per pic a few days back. Are you going to have a rack on the lid of the box so you can strap the Kriega (or other stuff) on the top?
I carry one of these as they are so small, tested but not used in anger.I have been looking at the tail box I made for the bike and the downside to it was the lock and catch were taking up a lot of internal space.
