Mate mounts for, then wired up the spotlights for the landy, then mate turned up today to pick up a sankey, brought his Facebook marketplace nato hitch that was seized absolutely solid. Muggins here let him borrow mine and I spent 4 hours gradually stripping it down. All free running now, just need to find some 1/4unf c/s screws and it’s done

Wheel bearings had gone in my sack barrow. Been meaning to fix it for a year or so. It has a cheap flanged bearing either side of each wheel, which are not a lot less in price than new wheels complete. But as I have a couple of packs of 6202 ZZ bearings, thought I would use these instead.

Axle turned out to slightly too big in diameter, so unwelded it, and turned down each end in the lathe, and welded it back on. The wheel centre was exactly the same length as four of the 6202 bearings, so pressed in four bearings in each wheel. Should last a while now !

Yes - Christmas morning - put a13 amp feed into the "ceiling" solely for the battery conditioning unit for my motorbike - I was fed up with tripping over the feed running along the floor - the unit is now fixed above the bike with a vertical feed down to the bike.

Talking about roof feeds has anyone purchased squiggly leads recently.

We had them years ago attached to fire engines charging sockets. So they went up out of the way when we got called out.

Like these but 13 amp versions.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Anyone manage to escape to the workshop over the period and what were you up to? I was out there Christmas day starting on making a motorbike luggage rack. Thread and pic's to follow in a week or so when it's finished.

Put my back out changing the battery on the car, xmas day. It wasn't the weight of the batteries, it was the bending over doing the fastening down and cleaning the connections.

Talking about roof feeds has anyone purchased squiggly leads recently.

I wouldn't buy one without knowing what's in it - the shoyte horrible ones from Chyna have a whisker of wire in them.

It's definitely not been workshop weather for a few days now foggy, damp and cold.

The computer, coffee/tea and you tube has had more of a draw over Christmas, I might venture out there today to see what it's like.......

When the nippers left I reclaimed one of the bedrooms as a computer/workshop /hobbies room . Spent most of the time in the warm making cheek "risers " for my pcp and springer guns. Used that KYDEX stuff and found it really easy to work with ,as you would expect. Main problem with 2 work spaces is there always one tool in the wrong space.

Back in the day, I remember dad having a charger and an inspection lamp, that had a plug on the lead with a bayonet fitting, so that they could be plugged into a lightbulb fitting dangling from the ceiling.

I just put up some new mounts for the outside blink camera's because the original don't have adjustment enough for my liking.
Too bloody miserable and cold outside. The Zibro heating and dehumidifier are already making it nice and comfy in the workshop so I will lock myself in there for the rest of the day.

Same here, one room upstairs for the electronic stuff, old caravan down the bottom of garden for the wood bothering stuff, garage and workshop plus sheds. Spend more time looking for tools than actually using them!!!

Same here, one room upstairs for the electronic stuff, old caravan down the bottom of garden for the wood bothering stuff, garage and workshop plus sheds. Spend more time looking for tools than actually using them!!!

That is a nightmare, had the same situation. There was always something needed from one place or the other, it actually stopped me wanting to use it or go there.

It does indeed. I have to make a list now, otherwise I forget to take or bring things. Still manage to forget things though, which is very off pi**ing.

I suppose it is lucky that I am not working now, as forgetting stuff is on another level of inconvenient.

I'm the same when doing any work at the stables, I have to try and load the car up with anything I might possibly need, but I still forget something
