Though it was the best part of thirty years ago I remember so well riding from Somerset to London on my KLR600, watching the warm glow of the sun setting in my mirrors only to discover that the warm glow was actually flames coming out of my throw over panniers. My girlfriend was not impressed, one because it was her clothes in that side of the pannier and two because she was sat on the pillion seat at the time trying to alert me to the fact we were on fire.
I think you should test extensively before selling.
Wanted a 5mm hex t-handle driver. Chopped end off Allen key and pressed into end of unidentified BMS bar. Tried to cut handle with hacksaw... Not a chance! Made of the hardest scraptonium! Cut handle with angle grinder. Welded handle and hex end with tru alloy 80 rods. They seem to be able to weld anything to anything. The rods are vintage (came from my father) do they still make them or what's the modern equivalent?
If it doesn't fall apart I may make a few more as I have a box of spare keys.

I used to pick a mate up on the way to work, bucket helmet on the helmet holder of a 400/4. Going along the A38 I see a trail of white smoke behind me, stop to check (it's dark at 5:30 am) and find nothing wrong, nothing smoking etc. Proceed slowly watching out for smoke but nothing showing! Get to his house and the helmet is nice and warm, with a graze mark down the side as has the rear tyre! It had blown against the tyre at speed rubbing against the tyre wall.
Always useful to have a few 309 or 312 rods in stock.

I had considered doing that but I am not sure if making it stronger at that point is a good thing or not as it would just transfer the shock to the fixing points. This would only be a concern if dropping the bike, unlikely you could load them up with enough luggage to damage it, 5mm 5083 is fairly robust stuff.Looks great. Weld a brace accross the bends to strengthen? You know it will be overloaded the way they stack luggage on a bike

Today finished the outside fence panels. A bit of a pain as adter near finishing the first panel I noticed middle arris rail was out of place, out of the supports, so had to take it off and redo.
Left to do, theres about half meter gap between the last post and the rear panel to build up. It *all* needs painting. I need to fit the trellises better as they are a loose fit in the concrete post slot, with one, one side above the top of post, so needs a bracket.
He's asked me to fix the last panel, behind his bins. A closer look today shows it is completely rotten. It would look a hell of a lot better if I also replaced that and his gate, but its extra cost and time. I may be able to bodge a repair with some spare feather edge but I doubt it would last that long.
